Beyond.

I should have known, all those years ago, by the amount of magazines I hoarded, that I would someday have a true love affair with design and words and merging it all together. That this combination would be my passion.

And maybe I did know. It was all just part of my personal evolution. And a part of me all along the line.

I can't resist a magazine. Sometimes I love them for the design : for the cool use of type, for the way they mesh images, for the white space, for the stuff layered all over, for the new way they make me look at things I have seen a million times before. And sometimes I love them for the content : for the information, for the insights, for the way they make me feel inside, for the way they use words, for the way the words reach me at just the right time.

Awhile back I was introduced to a new publication called Beyond. Their mission:to explore what it means to be truly human. All I had to do was read that and I wanted in - that is a damn good mission. That, and I was enchanted by their cool website. So I sent in my money, knowing it would be awhile before I saw my first issue because it is a no-ads ALL content magazine that was just getting started.

My first issue arrived the other day. It was worth the wait.

Content marrying design. Things that made me think. Books I now want to read. Design and art I was inspired by. The kind of magazine you lay down in bed to read and then almost have to get up becuase it lights a fire in you and makes it tough to go to sleep.

These people are doing something good.
