This was on the front page of the Living Section of The Oregonian newspaper today. According to the article there are 3,400 churches in the US and Canada who are celebrating the hymn tomorrow "in an effort to mark the 200th anniversary of the British abolition of slavery."
I love when newspapers showcase cool type designs. I think this may become inspiration for a new album about spirit. Percolating...
I received the latest issue of Somerset Studio yesterday and was excited to see an article about Keri Smith. Love her. She has been doing some really interesting daily art lately (based on create a thing a day a month). Keri has two books coming out later this year that I am excited to check out. The first, called Wreck This Journal, is available for pre-order on Amazon - looks like it will be released in June. She talks a bit about both books in the Somerset article.
Oh my cats I love that.

Ali: That's some nice type design! I recently read Thining with Type (Lupton) which re-awakened my love for pure, well-designed text. Also, thank you for the great resource. As a newby, I had not heard of Somerset. Always a pleasure. Molly

I love the words and what they mean and have wanted to get them into a scrapbook somehow. I might have to use your photo!!

I would love to see what you come up with for a "spirit" album. It's awesome that the newspaper put the lyrics on there.

I sung this song when I took lyrical song courses years ago (I was tenor).
Another time, with a gospel teacher who sometimes sung with the Golden Gate Quartet (I admired them when I was a little gal), we sung some other songs as "he's got a little babe in his hands, he's got a little little babe, in his hands, lalalalaaa"...
we were touched so deep into our heart to sing this without any music, wow!
I'd like to find another song course like this.
Oh my, and somerset...ohlalaaaaaaaaa!!!

Very cool typework... I love that vintage look, it's kind of "unschooled" yet so right.

I got all excited there for a minute that a new Somerset Studio was out, but alas, I already have that one! There should be a new one in a couple of weeks though. I always haunt their website when the next one is due out, even though it then takes a couple of weeks to reach us in Australia.
That type design of Amazing Grace is fantastic, I agree. Looks great!

Ali-
Noticed that you posted about the Autism special on 60 minutes tonight. Home Makeover (ABC at 8pm EST) is also building a new home for an Autistic family tonight (5 of their children are autistic!). Just thought you might want to check it out....
