Sending prayers
Tags:to the people in the path of Hurricane Katrina.
Watched Phantom of the Opera last weekend. Amazing. Can't believe I have never experienced Phantom before. The music is magic. It is so in my head right now. Downloaded the soundtrack from iTunes so I can play songs over and over. LOL. It is getting a little much. But oh so good. Needs to be listened to very loud for maximum impact and emotion.
Nice to have no plans for the upcoming week besides scrapping, getting all my class supplies for the coming months in order, and hanging with me family.
Hoping, as well, that this will be the week that some things are clarified for us. Say a couple positive prayers for our family this week for patience, perserverence, acceptance, and plain old faith in goodness.

ali, i've spent the last few weeks reading through your whole blog and i just have to say...thanks. thanks for letting us into your life and sharing yourself. this sounds so fangirl, but you and i seem to be facing/struggling with a lot of the same things as far as personal and family development, balance, simplicity vs. stuff, etc. i really enjoy your take on life and wish you nothing but the best possible outcomes in the next few weeks. all that positive energy you give out will be returned to you.

If you loved the movie you should try to see it on the stage. Phantom is still one of my favorites. And if you can believe it, there are some much better actors that play the Phantom, much more powerful than the movie.

I just recently saw Phantom as well. Had never experience it before, never seemed like my cup of tea. I did enjoy it though and the music sticks with you, it's very captivating. Neat to see the connections here, to see that there are others who are just now, within days of each other, experiencing this musical for the first time.
Your family as well as those dealing with the hurricane are in my thoughts and prayers. Best wishes to you.

I agree about Phantom music - it needs to be loud for full impact. And so great on stage - I've not seen the movie because I saw it twice on stage and I don't want to ruin it in my memory, kwim? Not to say the movie is bad, it's probably great, I just LOVED the play.

I was fortunate to have been taken to see Phantom performed at the Spokane Opera House on my 21st birthday. I've always been drawn in by the music, but it made it so much more alive seeing it performed live. Music is one of those things that can totally touch the soul. It permeates your very being and can touch the seat of emotion like nothing else I have experienced. Very powerful.
Prayers coming your way.

I had to post to this! I have enjoyed the musical "Phantom of the Opera" for 10 years now! It has to be at the top of my list of musicals. I saw it about 8 years ago!!! You should definately see it onstage if you get a chance. I haven't caught the movie yet. Maybe it's that I don't want to get disappointed by a movie of it!!! Glad you loved it!!

You must definetly see Phantom on stage! The movie was great, but the stage performance is so powerful. It's the most incredible experice. I must have seen the stage performance more than a dozen times and I have listened to the original London cast over and over again thanks to the magic of CDs of course....Phantom is definetely one of my favorite musicals!! But I actually *love* everything that Sir Andrew Loyd Webber has ever made! Ever since I was a teenager and I saw Jesus Christ Super Star back in the early 80s I fell in love with his music...you got see also -or even hear the CDs of Evita, Cats, Woman in White, Bombay Dreams...you can tell I'm a huge fan, hee hee.

Ali, I've been reading your blog for months now. I decided to come out of lurkdom and post too! :) I took your class at CKU-Orlando. When I got home, I created my own color inspiration book and I've been adding all kinds of things too it. Looking for inspiration in all kinds of places. Thank you for providing that idea!
Saw Phantom performed on stage last year and it was fantasic! The music is haunting and beautiful at the same time and definately stays with you. I need to check out the movie now.
Good vibes coming at 'cha!

Ali,
we were able to take the last flight out of new orleans yesterday morning to avoid the hurricane. It was a scary sight to be in the french quarter and see all the cute antique shops and restaurants boarding up their windows. Glad to have exited safely!
The phantom -- awesome!
love,
Jessica

So funny! Just rented the "Phantom" this past weekend, and really enjoyed it. Did have the pleasure of seeing the stage play in Toronto a million years ago! I so agree with Amanda, that there are better Phantoms....
Good thoughts being sent your way. Hope all is well!

Sending prayers westward!
So glad you enjoyed Phantom, but I must reiterate how much better it is in the theater! I first saw it in '96 or '97, and Jake and I made it our regular "thing" so we saw it multiple times at the Curran (San Francisco) before it moved to the Orpheum. We just couldn't get enough! We ended up making "All I Ask of You" one of our wedding songs in '98!
Anyway, praying for wisdom and guidance and comfort, should you (they?) need it. Blessings.
