Tags:The trees were in full color in Sunriver this weekend. Everytime I go there I dream about a day when we could have a place there...a getaway. I also had a fantasy of being able to stay there while writing a book. A quiet retreat. Maybe someday...
Seriously had an amazing experience at the Oregon Summit this weekend. I am thinking that this blog is probably not the place to talk much about politics, but it looks as if it is going to become a big part of our lives around here for the time being.
Chris has decided to run for the District 14 seat for the Oregon House of Representatives. We attended the Summit weekend for the chance to connect with other Democrats, including many state leaders. It was so, so cool. Chris was excited and I was excited.
One of the things that really hit me was a reminder of why I fell in love with Chris ten years ago. He likes to be involved. He cares about what is happening and likes to take a leading role. We were both involved in student leadership stuff in both high school and college. It was something we connected on...something we could discuss...something that got both of us fired up. Loved seeing that part of him, and in a lot of ways that part of me, again.
I am sure it will be an interesting ride. Crazy. And a lot of work. And man it is awesome to see him feeling that passion bubbling up inside of him again.

I suck at politics, but I have admiration for people who say they want change and go out there and try to become that change!!

I'm not a democrat. But I respect his and your political views. I know politics can be touchy but It would be okay with me if you expressed things here that I may or may not agree with (not that I matter... LOL. : )I hope he has a great campaign! Good luck and best wishes to you both in this!!

Hi Ali! It sounds like I'm outnumbered here as a Republican from the south. I think that is one of our most important responsibilities as Americans - be involved in the political process. That's one reason our country is so great - everyone has the opportunity to get involved and make a difference. Good luck to Chris!

Good luck to Chris and to you, Ali. I can't imagine running for office, but I admire Chris for going to bat for the stuff he believes in.

Okay, I know it's dumb, but I just got the biggest smile on my face reading all the comments of democrat scrappers! (I do think we my be in the minority) I am impressed at the challenge your husband is taking on. If I lived in Oregon I would campaign for him...but alas, I live in Missouri, where when I was wearing my Howard Dean for President shirt a while back, people thought I was visiting from Vermont.

Oh my gosh - I got goosebumps reading your blog. I remember in high school when I was a nanny for a great guy here in town - and one night when I was babysitting he came home, sat down on the couch, and told me that he was running for congress. I was so honored to be a part of the beginnings of that process - and to see how quickly life grows and changes and just how amazing it is to follow your dream - he was a total underdog, but he WON! After college I interned in his office in D.C. - total amazing experience - and then helped on his campaign when he ran for Senate. It's so very cool when you have a person in the political arena that you *know* will do an amazing job - and you see the process through. You guys are in for an incredible ride. So so excited for you both. Best wishes. :)

Hi Ali- yes I know- i'm waaaay behind on your blog(its 2008!!)! LOL but, i just had to ask, since you mentioned Sunriver a couple of times. I'm orginally from Bend-now living in North Cali for a few more months after a year here (moving to either PDX or Seattle this summer)..and I was just wondering if you guys have ever been to "Sno Cap Drive In" in Sisters? Been in my family for over 30 yrs. Of course, there's nothing organic there, LOL, but just thought I'd ask anyways..its cool to hear from people who know the place :)
ps- i too have a l-o-v-e for cardigans! ;0)
