Photo Express.

Visiting scrapbook stores rocks.
Plain and simple. It is one of my favorite parts of my job.
Held a couple workshops at Photo Express in Maple Ridge, BC on Saturday. It was a HAPPY time. Great staff. Awesome selection. Fantastic students - seriously loved you guys. Got to have sushi with three wonderful women on Friday night. So much fun. Can't wait to go back.
Part of what makes Photo Express so cool is that, in addition to being a scrapbook store, it is also home to a camera store, developer, and photo studio (among other things). Totally a one stop shop. So of course I had to get a little camera while I was there...picked up the new little Canon Power Shot SD500...been wanting something small for all this traveling I have been doing. Not so easy to pack the Digital Rebel around.
And as usual, I found something I had not seen before that I just had to get. At Photo Express it was these cool little notebooks called Sarabinders from Hot Off the Press. They are small blank books that you can fill with pockets, envelopes, address pages, blank pages, or planner pages. A seriously cool system. Had to get a couple of course.
And I got a sneak peek at new FANTASTIC stamps and stuff from Fontwerks. I am guessing there will be some sneak peeks this week but I don't want to give anything away yet...just know that the stamps brought lots of screams of delight.
Got home yesterday and went to bed. Slept from 3pm until 7am this morning. It was MUCH needed after such a great weekend. And to get me ready to attack my projects this week.
Also, a couple people have emailed me recently and asked about subscribing to my blog. I put up the link over on the left at the bottom to be able to subscribe. Hope that helps. And, if you have emailed me lately I am behind again (what's new) - I will try to get back in touch with you soon!

Hi Ali,
I was in your morning class on Saturday in Maple Ridge. My husband and daughter made a weekend of the trip since we live about 4 hours away from Maple Ridge. It was completely worth it and I have shared some of my partially completed album with a couple of my co-workers today. They think it is pretty darn cool.
I also posted a couple of pics of you (and me) on a Pub thread on 2Peas (I'm sophiespal). Thanks again for a fabulous class.

wow...what an awesome idea...photo studio, camera store, and scrapbooking all rolled into one! it sounds so simple yet I've never heard it done before!! Sounds like you an awesome time, and you will love your little camera!! I have the SD400, and totally love it, almost more than mine larger HP945..but like you said, it's more due to convenience and travability (ok, so thats not a word, but you know what I mean!).

Hi Ali,
I clicked on that link and it took me to a download for a file not found on windows? I also have a typepad account and was wondering how that worked. Is there something I missed when I clicked on it- what should have happened? Thanks.

Hey Ali,
Did you know that Hot Off the Press is a local company? They're located in Canby, OR (half-way between Portland & Salem). Their retail website is www.paperwishes.com if you need more Sara Binders stuff. Just thought I'd enable ya....

Ali - so does your new canon have lens attachments? I am asking because I also have a powershot, but do not yet have any of the lens. I'm a little hesitant to buy them but I think having a telephoto lens would give me more of the photo style I am looking for. The point is .... if you have any tips for using your new camera do share!

we have one of those LSS/camera store type things over here too....but it's definitely way more camera store than LSS> their scrapbooking stuff sucks for a scrapping-obsessed gal like me.
