Up and running.
Tags:Feeling much better today. Internet is set-up here at the new house. Transferred all my computer stuff over here last night, hoping to get the rest of my scrap stuff today. I will take some photos once I get set-up - that will probably not be until the beginning of November.
Today I am going back and forth between putting things away here - carefully selecting the stuff that we "really" need and packing up/donating the rest. Feels good to be simplifying. Chris and I had both been wanting that...feeling it was time...that we had a bunch of stuff that was weighing us down. Putting away our plates the other night I noticed that we have 24 plates. THREE PEOPLE LIVE IN OUR HOUSE! I can see having that many if we did a bunch of entertaining...but that is just not happening right now. Even then I think I would want to use paper plates or something LOL. Needless to say, some of our dishes will get donated. And it feels good.
Anyone have a creative solution for storing your microwave? We have limited counter space and a microwave that is much too big for the counter. Just makes the whole space feel smaller.
A couple cool things here in the new place. First off, digital cable. This is SWEET. We have "on-demand" which means we can watch Jon Stewart's The Daily Show whenever we want LOL - and it is also on here at 8pm rather than 11pm. HAPPY.
Another HAPPY, wireless internet here in the duplex. ROCKIN. Now I can have my computer back - Chris had been on it recently and it raises my blood pressure when anyone but me is on my computer. I can really lose it when anything wrong happens on the computer - totally unreasonable! Oh well, it has to be something :).
Back to cleaning, packing, unpacking, and working.

If you have room could your microwave go in your pantry cupboard?

Hiya, just another suggestion wrt microwave (I'm a short-a**, so ontop of the fridge is no good for me LOL) :-D ... but what DOES work for us, is installing one of those TV arm on the wall. Y'know ... like an extendable/foldaway arm, with a 'tray' attached. Dunno if you use them in the 'States - but it works for us in small kitchens.
Hugs for good solutions!

I've been enjoying your blog...good luck in the new house!
We have a tiny microwave -- a Sharp Halfpint...maybe you could downsize that too...

best of luck with the move Ali! I know what you mean about the microwave. My old house had a great spot for it but in my new house it is on the counter. Hey you could maybe buy a smaller stainless steel one like I saw the other day. Much smaller and really slick. Or hide the darn thing somewhere. Like the idea of a stand for it.
Remember to breath!

I love Jon Stewart....I gotta get TiVO because he's on too late for this loser to watch. In our old house we didn't have counterspace for the microwave either, but we had an open space to the ceiling where our stove was, so I had DH install shelves above the stove all the way to the ceiling so I had a place for the microwave and a few other appliances that I used on a semi regular basis and didn't want to store away.

I also keep my microwave on top of the fridge. We are way short on counter space.

You could consider mounting the microwave over your stove/range- whatever you want to call it. We are hoping to get more counter space that way as well. And we have no room for a microwave cart. : )
Glad your doing well!

Hi Ali,
We currently have our micro on the counter and I hate it there, but there really isn't a good spot for it. My mom keeps hers on the counter in her laundry room, which is just off of her kitchen. Hope you'll post some pics of the new place soon, I love to see how you make things 'home'.

Sending you good moving vibes Ali!!! I don't know how you do it all :) I'm in a similar boat...packing as we speak for our move in 2 weeks. Yikes...how do we accumulate all this stuff!

is it too crazy to suggest getting rid of the micro? when we moved the next place had an ancient micro that was actually part of the oven. weird. it heated unpredictably so i never used it. we are going on three years here and i have three young kids (age 5, 7, 8) and i can honestly say i don't miss it a bit. m

Another vote here for getting rid of it. Our broke about 10 yrs ago and we decided we never really liked the food cooked that way so we let it go. I hardly ever wish we had one. About a year ago we inherited one that we keep in the garage for when the kids want to make micro popcorn ( usually we just do it in a pan but my teens like the micro thing late at night). To us it's not worth the space in our lives.
