Cool.
Tags:Here's a little sneak peek at my March 2006 Studio A column in Creating Keepsakes - this month it is all about my Scrapbook On The Road concept. And one of the coolest things: my Mom did a Scrapbook On The Road on their hunting trip last fall that became an online extension of the article! You can see her Scrapbook On The Roadhere. Seriously so cool. Go Mom.
The Scrapbook On The Road featured is from my trip to the Netherlands last fall. I am heading that way again on the 19th - totally looking forward to another adventure. Planning to keep another little book - it is cool becuase so much of it is journaling impressions, keeping track of the cool little things that happen along the way, and then I add in my photos when I get home. I think this time I will keep some pages blank (mixing them in from the beginning) so that when I add in my photos they are intermixed with the journaling and the ephemera - rather than all at the end like I did with the first Scrapbook On The Road.
So excited to be heading over to Europe again. Teaching a bunch of classes at Pien's, hanging out with Regina (the totally cool store owner), Nita, Florence, and so many other people that I connected with on my last trip. I am also bringing over a new project for the classes that I am really excited about - can you believe it includes embossing? And cool stamps from Hero Arts, pattern papers from lots of my favorite companies, and tags, and ribbon and lots of other yummy stuff.
I love mini-books. I am all over them these days.
Today I am working on some of my CK projects. Doing some handwriting for my next book (coming out in the summer: A Designer's Eye for Scrapbooking with Patterned Paper). Working on my column for June. Finishing up packing for the classes this weekend in Virgina. Working on another special project.
And I am going to take some photos of Chris today - photos that he can use on his political pieces. We have never really done a little shoot like this together - looking forward to it. Love him.
Back to work!

Wow... what a great idea Ali... I ALWAYS have a TON of memorabilia stashed when we come home, but somehow they always end up ruined, and never into the scrapbook pages like they were intended! Now just for a trip to utilize this! :)
BTW... hopelessly addicted to anything mini these days! :)

I really enjoy the studio "A" column, love the scrapbook on the road concept, it is always the little things like reciepts, matchbooks from restaurants, cultural impressions, unusual phrases people use, etc that totally enhance the content of a travelogue. Have fun on your trip Ali. Tena

Wow, embossing? Wish I were close enough to take a class. One of these days I'll just have to come to your neck of the woods when you're teaching locally.

Sounds like lots of fun things going on. I actually took a peek at the March issue when I was cropping last Friday night and loved your piece on travel scrapbook/journals. I've always done that and love to look back on them and re-live the experience. Your new book sounds fabulous!!! I am a patterned paper freak:):) Would love for you to post some of the pics you take of Chris. Fun!
Have a great day!

Hi Ali
I live in Holland.. You're coming over here this month, but I can't be at your workshop and that makes me very sad... I can't get outside because I have Panic Attacks if I do... I really want to see you some day.. Maybe If I can get better, I'll come to your workshops...
With love
Emine

I had the opportunity to go to your class at Pien's and had to turn it down as I'm going to CKU-A Chicago - couldn't swing both - and now it sounds so much fun, especially as you're stamping. I'll have to wait for a full report from my friend who's going. Have a wonderful trip !!! Hopefully I'll get to one of your classes one day !
Love your Studio A column !

Ali,
I've been meaning to tell you - I LOVE the Studio A column. I was disappointed it wasn't in the CK Top 10 issue (which was an awesome issue - love the 5am layout, must do that). Can't wait to see the new book.
