Happy Friday.
Tags:Seriously you guys. Wow. Thank you for the comments, the emails, the tulips, the support. Your voices were heard loud and clear - and it is all appreciated so very much.
Last night I finished A Slant of Sun. You can read an excerpt here. I think it is totally possible that this book has been keeping me on the tender side over the last couple weeks - and I think this is a good thing.
Here is one of my favorite passages:
This is a book about the power of love and commitment. At its heart, so very tender and true.
Good book. Highly recommended.
Other than that, Chris is cleaning out our storage unit today. Lots of junk in there left over from our old house & our move. Simon and I are getting ready to take our daily nap - this week has rocked in the nap department. I am looking forward to this weekend - working on purging stuff out of my space again - feeling that need to re-evaluate and organize and chill in my creative little home. Mom may stop by on her way down the road. And movies, I want to watch some movies while I get class kits together for next weekend.
Wishing you all a happy, safe, creative weekend.
And thanks for reminding me that "it is ok." Love you guys!

Amazing how books can bring out our tenderness at times. A few months ago, I read the For Laci by her mom Susan Rocha. WOW, I was tender for weeks. So sad how she met her fate. I wish you a wonderful holiday weekend!!
Adorable pic of Simon!

Aww...Simon..so adorable !!
My son (who just turned 5) walked in my office while your blog page opened.
"Who's that mom?" "Simon", I say. "Simons funny mom", "Yes, yes he is".
Here's to the adorable and funny little guys that keep us smiling. :)
Wishing you a safe Holiday weekend.

Hey Ali,
I'm so glad you're having a great day! I read your post-office story this morning before starting work - and I haven't been able to get it out of my head all day.
Ali, you have a chance - could you please share if there was ANYTHING a caring soul could have done to help you in the post office, in that moment?
Something a caring bystander could have done (besides giving you an understanding smile) - maybe carried your parcels or held the door ... or ... or something - so you could focus on Simon?
I had three babies born three years apart, who are all 20-something now, with no family closeby - and a stranger's helping hand helped me a few times when I really needed it. They were angels.
I'm trying to "pay it forward" to help new moms in my community, but, with your story, I wouldn't know what to do ... could we have helped?

Sweet photo of the little man Simon! Love it-glad today is a new day and now I must have that book. Reading that gave me chills. Have fun cleaning your space this weekend-could you send some of that mojo to do so to MI? My space really needs it right about now! Happy weekend-Hugs Kelley

Ali....What a little man. We all have those days.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I do believe I will be getting into my creative space and cleaning up a bit too. Lots of projects I need to do and just can't when it's unorganized.

I'm about to start Slant of Sun now. Thanks for the heads up on the tender dept:) I have been feeling tender too. Lowell got his official clinical Autism diagnosis this week and the speech clinicians evaluation hit me hard. I'm going to write about it on my www.stumblingtowardsnormal.blogspot.com
soon! Glad to hear things are better for you:) Happy Friday. Have a great weekend!

Super cute photo of Simon - made me smile.
Loved the quote - interesting timing since I have been really down and confused about life lately - my best friend is extremely sick with liver cancer and today I have felt guilty about just living. What is it all about - how can everything seems so big and so insignificant at the same time??!! You always manage to reel me back in and help me see that it's all ok.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

hey Ali, I love that picture of S-man!!
Your post yesterday got me thinking, as a mom of five, I try to be understanding when I see other mother's in difficult situations, y'know that been there done that, sold the dang t-shirt at a garage sale kind of feeling, but the fact is I haven't been exactly there, at least the situation you have. I usually have stickers in my purse, a pen and notebook, gum, hard candy something I can offer the mom to distract their child, however in Simon's situation, a distraction might have been just that much more stimulation he couldn't take at that moment, so what could somebody do to help in this situation?
