Oh Ali....There are millions of great people in the world...why oh why would you choose to quote Oprah Winfrey ????
Love you, your work, etc, but I don't agree with this crazy adoration for this woman, I really don't think she is great in any way.
Just my two cents...

Love the quote and at 64 I make myself happy first and finally my husband and I worry about ourselves first. We know that our girls are married to great guys that are providing for them and their children and that we are always there as backups, but don't have to "do" on a daily basis.
Ali, that quote will go in a quote book that I've been keeping for almost 46 years. Thanks.....

Wow, this is an area I need to do some work in...the not pleasing the mate part, anyway. A bit of a people pleaser.
As far as quoting Oprah goes, it is valuable to remember you can dislike the messenger and still hear the message.

It took me way too long to learn this! 45 years to "hear the message" and another 3 to put it into practice. Still struggle with this sometimes.
It is so nice to see younger women who have caught on. It is NOT selfish to love yourself and take care of your own needs. It's a message all young women need to hear, no matter who the messenger is.
