I "heart" Sydney.
Tags:Hello, Australia.
I think we were all a little giddy upon landing in Sydney last night. There seemed to be lots of singing - at least on Cathy's part (and, in reality, that is not too unusual).
After getting to tour around a bit today - seeing the Opera house and taking a ferry to Manley beach with Donna and Heather - I called Chris and told him that I have to come back - with both him and Simon. This place is awesome. I think having super nice weather helped a bit :). And I think I have always loved cities that exist on and next to big bodies of water. There is something fresh and so very alive about living right on the edge of land.
And for now, I leave you with this:
One last thing: I have been looking around all day for a stuffed-animal kangaroo with a "full body" baby in it's pouch. I have seen lots with just a little head poking out from the pouch but I think that a full body baby would be better with Simon (he will want to take it out and put it back in, etc.) If you are in Aussie and are coming to classes and have a chance to pick one up for me that would be AWESOME. Or at least let me know where I can get one before I leave on Sunday.
Off to enjoy dinner with the group! Classes tomorrow :).

Hey Ali!
Sometimes the best place to buy roos is at the airport - a little pricier but they have a good selection. Glad you love Aus! Hope you have a great time here.

Welcome! (If you don't have any luck finding a kangaroo with a full body - let me know) I will find one and post it over :) (I am in Brisbane not Sydney but would be happy to post one to the US for you) Enjoy! Sydney is great - Sunshine Coast/Brisbane/Gold Coast/Northern NSW is better ;)

Hey there Ali,
There are some great shops at the Rocks. Near the Bridge....take your camera too, cause the view from there of the opera house and the bridge is amazing.
I'm pretty sure you will find what you are looking for there.......and there is a TO DIE FOR BEAD SHOP there as well.
Also fab food on a corner overlooking the bay, they do breakfast outside. BIG hearty breakfast, and fabulous coffee!!
If I was coming I'd take you there myself!
But instead im packing up the house, and shifting!
Have an awesome time here!!

Ali - I hope you have a wonderful time in Sydney. I went to Australia for three weeks the summer after I graduated from high school and I didn't want to come back. If I had had the money I probably would have stayed. I am just trying to get my hubby there because, like you said there is something about being there next to the water and the land is so gorgeous. I will see in Waco in Sept. Try to bring you Australia pics with you if you can.

I hope you get to go out to the Caves, to the 7 Sisters, to take that train/tram thing that shoots you up the side of a mountain so fast you will scream. So fun. I love Australia too! :) Have a great time!

Ali,
There is a little shop in the center of town, or there was one when I was there. It's a smallish shop, all touristy stuff. not far from Circular Quay.
I bought it, lugged it ALL OVER Sydney -- foolish love.

Ali-
You have got to do the BridgeClimb (www.bridgeclimb.com). I went in 2000 right before the Sydney Olympics and the bridgeclimb was by far the coolest thing to do in Sydney. The views are amazing and I guarantee you would love it! My sister, who is afraid of heights, enjoyed every minute of it! I loved Australia and I totally wish I can visit again. If you go to Brisbane/Gold Coast, the coolest thing to go to is Dracula's Cabaret Dinner Show. It was hilarious and the food was delicious! (http://www.draculas.com.au/goldcoast_queensland/index.asp). I totally wish I was back there...Man, I'm jealous! Let me know if you enjoy them if you go!
