So it started out normal...
Tags:and then took a bit of a turn. After coming home from a couple errands, I was eating and Chris was surfing online and Simon was out watching the elephant movie. After a bit I walked out there on my way upstairs and encountered a BIG mess. Simon had an "accident" of the number two variety and had gone through the process of walking through it, wiping it all over interesting places (furniture, TV, etc), and stomping it into the carpet. Lovely. I think maybe he had been dancing.
Chris headed out to get a steam cleaner almost immediately and I put Simon in the bath. A couple hours later this house is a whole lot cleaner than we ever imagined it would be today. Those steam cleaners work pretty darn well.
Since then Simon took a nap and just finished up running through the sprinkler.
Maybe, in the scope of our lives, this is really pretty normal after all.
Here's to you and whatever normal is in your life.

sounds like a typical day here too! jenna went through a phase when she was younger (about 18 months) where she would wipe it on whatever she could reach. more than once we had to disassemble her crib and take it outside to hose it off and disinfect everything. my mother in law told me that when my husband was about simons age he played with it in the bathroom. a hairbrush and a rug was involved. i don't think it was pretty. =)

The thing is, it is very normal. And after it's all over, it's funny too.
Simon looks none the worse for his morning experience and looks like he's having a blast. Enjoy the rest of your weekend (and your newly cleaned carpet)!

Just thought I'd share a post from Karen Burniston's blog on a similar topic this week: http://karenburniston.typepad.com/i_am_not_lefthanded/2006/08/grossology_part.html
I've had a similar experience while nannying except the sweet little girl decided her brother should wear some of it too! ;) Yep, I think it's definitely normal! Kudos to you for your amazing attitude! Simon looks so happy in that photo!

Isn't it astounding that children don't get grossed out as easily as us adults, yet it's us adults that have to clean it up??? :) what's that about!!! I'm sure he had a great time, tho'! I don't have a kid, but a long haired cat that likes to distribute her poop around the house from time to time (including our BED) and lots of hairballs (also including our bed).. oh no.. just as I type this I can hear her throw up! Ergh.... !

Very normal....and lots more normal things will come your way. My suggestion (me being a mother of 2 and owning a dog) run, don't walk and buy yourself a little green machine. It is the best little steam cleaner around and easy to use !!!!!

Oh Ali...that post made me giggle AND want to give you a hug. :-) I think all moms and dads have had to deal with sh*t in places OTHER than the toilet. :-) Thanks for always keeping it REAL!!

Waaaaayyyy normal. We have a Vax vacuum which can clean and wash carpets - great for puppies and poopies! All three of my girls at one point or another have done some poo painting.

It strikes me that what is NORMAL in my everyday life IS complications and messiness. Without those unexpected moments life feels very ABNORMAL (but it is a lot easier and more relaxed - wink).
Ahh, the joys of parenting!
