Where in the world?
Tags:Well, it is 1:12am and I am in Las Vegas.
There was some sort of mix-up in my flight plans (one of those where each airline is blaiming the other - so fun - I was really trying hard to tell myself it was "ok" - but it really was/is "not ok" - did a bit of crying - that feeling where you just want to get home) and ended up not being able to get on the last flight out of Vegas to Eugene. So here I sit...in a nice room at Mandalay Bay. Had to sleep somewhere, right? This sounded much better than staying at the airport until tomorrow evening.
Needless to say, the newsletter is going to be a bit late this week. I may work on it tomorrow or I may just take the day off and stroll around Vegas before I head home (through San Francisco of course - which will mean that over a time span less than 48 hours I have been in CT, NY, Denver, Las Vegas, San Fran, and finally, hopefully, end up back in Eugene. Awesome.
The joys of travel. Gotta love it. At least I am in a city that never sleeps (except for the people at the United counter who had all gone home for the night - grrr).

Hang in there Ali - I know not getting home absolutely sucks and the red tape and run around are so so so annoying.
If I were you I think I would buy myself about 5-10 great magazines and a few fabulous lattes (or coffees in your case) from Starbucks.

I stayed at the MB Hotel a few weeks ago and it was great. Even though it's not by choice, make the best of your stay and do some shopping between the MB and the Lexor. They have the absolute cutest store for pets...couture everything! Even if you don't have a pet, you can always find a gift there. Good luck!

I've so been there! Stuck at McCarran at 4AM after being in an airport/on a plane since 5PM. Did some crying of my own, felt a bit better and roamed around the airport til my flight at 9AM. Fun, fun. Enjoy Mandalay...much better than the airport! :)

HEY!!! If there was anywhere else you could have been stuck, AT LEAST you are in LAS VEGAS!!!! And the Mandalay Bay ROCKS!!!
Relax for a portion of the day and just try to make the best of it....life could always be worse :)

I wish I had known earlier. I live in Las Vegas and I was up at 1 am, nursing my 5 week old. I am pretty much up most of the night these days. It would have enjoyed helping you out. Everyone else I know is sleeping at night.
Hope you get home safely today. In the mean time enjoy Vegas, it is the journey that is the adventure not the destination.

What a way to end up in Vegas! So sorry to hear of your travel troubles, and hope they all get their arses together and get you home to your sweet family! What a moron for asking Chris why he was calling instead of you! My husband would have done the same thing! Hugs to sweet Simon who is missing his mommy as much as his mommy is missing him!
