Halloween 2006.
Tags:Last night was so cool. This was the first year that Simon "got" what he was supposed to do - he walked right up to the door and said "trick or treat" and "thank you." Chris and I were loving every minute of it...especially the independence & comprehension Simon was showing. The first couple houses he was a bit unsure and then after that he was all over having candy put into his bucket. It was awesome.
And if you got my newsletter today you read that it was all about taking a break. Last night I took a break from my camera - can you believe that? And it was totally cool. Cool to be in the moment experiencing all the Halloween goodness with Chris & Simon rather than one of us busy with the camera. And it was wonderfully ok. Sometimes the memories in our mind are just as fabulous as having the photos to go along with them.

I love your comments about taking a break. Good for you for leaving your camera behind and just being in the moment. I think we all need to remember that:) My break is to go to a special *amazing* art event this weekend in Omaha. I'm flying there and having a break from my "normal" life for 48 hours. I cannot wait!! It's going to be so amazing:) Totally need it.

I've been feeling like I might be a little heavy on the "photo ops" lately - you are right - it's okay, and dare I say refreshing to enjoy the moment instead of trying to capture it! Thanks for the reminder!

I love the expression on Lily's face in this shot - she looks totally confused! Great carving. Our pumpkins are so dense they are really hard to carve. In the UK last year we carved ones like yours - much less strain on the knife!
Good luck with the election.

That pumpkin's tooth is so funny to me. I might have to save this photo for carving purposes next year. I love it.

I wish I had left my camera behind. Got so frustrated not being able to capture a good quality night shot that I ended up in the worst mood and felt like a failure. Next year, it stays home.

Fun! Sometimes it is so freeing to leave the camera home. When I choose to do that my husband is usally pretty surprised. "You don't have your camera?" HeeHee.
