Ali - what a perfect sign for today! I was talking with my daughter (16) this morning about Chris winning, and how great it would be if more people in office had an inside experience of living with a child with autism. My son has autism, and sometimes our experience is untranslatable. Today Nathaniel was happily playing in the living room, I left the room and shortly after returned. He had opened the windows and crawled out and "went for a walk". I called 911, and amazingly the police were already with him - two streets away. They told me to keep him at home. I told them he crawled out a window and they told me to lock the windows. No clue. There are no reliable ways to keep my brilliant son from doing something he sets his mind on, and the autism comes up for us in that we have no clue what he might set his mind on. Anyway, we will keep a constant eye on our little houdini. It's great to think that your husband will be a voice for my son, as well as all of the other important work he will be doing.
I just loved the way you used those signs at Crafting Connection '06 in Wellington, NZ.
They somehow had a way of making you feel more relaxed and like everything was ok.
