Our lives will change today.
Tags:One of the most amazing things I am facing right now is that, regardless of the outcome, our lives will be changed today in a big way. How often do you really know that your life will change? I was emailing with my friend Florence and she commented, "generally you can feel change coming and kinda creeping up on you - it's not often really such a tangible something." I am anxious. I am excited. I am trying to keep it all in perspective and know that whatever happens it will be for something good.
Thank you for so many supportive emails over the last few months regarding the election. One that I really appreciated came this morning from Beth who wrote,
So what's happening right now? It is 8:30am and Chris is out waving signs in the pouring (seriously pouring) rain in one area of our community. After that he will be back on the phones encouraging last minute voters to turn in their ballots. Tonight we will gather at the Lane County Fairgrounds where the returns will begin being announced at 8pm (pacific time).
I am planning to have updates throughout the night here on my blog. My sister also found this site which will begin having results posted after 8pm pacific.
Stay tuned.

I'm not a religious person, but my thoughts and hopes are with you and Chris and Simon today... through your blog I've followed Chris's election programme here in England and I wish we had such people to vote for when it comes to election times, more often than not it's a case of picking the lesser of several evils. I'd love to be able to make a positive choice. I hope that the results are as they should be and that when i check back tomorrow you are able to tell us so. Sending positive thoughts and vibes your way across the atlantic.
Tracey xx

What a day! I voted for the first time in 1992 and still get the same sense of excitement each time an election rolls around.
What an amazing experience this must be for you and your family. All good wishes to each of you.

Good Luck Chris!! I have been a votes since I was 18 yrs old, due to a 8th grade teacher Mr. Middleton. He told our class that if you don't vote you have not right to complain about the out come. But if you vote you have the right to stand up and speak your mind because you are trying to make a difference and to make a change. I hope that everyone votes today and speaks there mind on the important issues that make this country what it is today.

Hey Ali!
I am up here in Salem, and it is raining cats and dogs. I am just a block from the Capitol and you can feel the buzz of election day. Here's to a successful campaign for Chris. I will be watching, and if he wins, I'll go dry off his seat in Chambers! ;

I just want to say that through your bloggings and overall "activism" attitude, you have inspired me to look into what is being done about several issues that are important to me. One of them being the U.S. Congressional bill that you posted about back in May... I have written all the representatives in NC who have not been accounted for on combatautism.com and hope they will agree to support this issue. I don't have any children myself yet, but have done some volunteer tutoring with some autistic teenagers at the local autism center, and I too feel that there needs to be more done on this serious health topic. Thanks for your influence in making me realize the important nature of voting, getting your message out, etc. that we are priviledged enough to do here is the USA.

I am a dem. I live in FL. If anyone knows about voting frustration, it is a Floridian. Yet with all the struggle, I am so happy and excited to see democracy at work. I'm very excited for Chris as well. How wonderful to be living a dream while doing great things at the same time. Good luck to him and many thanks for his courage. Change is definitely in the air... I wonder if that's why we vote at the start of a new season...

Hi Ali
Met you at Kiwiscraps in Australia, have done your online class with CK and constantly read your blog. I just wanted to wish Chris all the best of luck!!! I can see how passionate he and your family are about this election. Not sure how the whole USA system works but truely wish Chris could come over to Aussie land and join our government. :0)
