Thank you.

Last night I finished a book I have been reading called The Memory Keeper's Daughter. One of my occupational hazards (along with a deep-ingrained love of reading) is picking up books at airports as I wait for my next flight. I have a huge stack here at home.
This was a heavy book. Emotionally heavy. But good. One that will stick with you after you are done with it (like another favorite of mine The Time Travelers Wife). Both are recommended if you are looking for something to add to your own personal list.
In the mail today I got the newest issue of Body + Soul magazine. It is the December issue and it is a good one. All about getting yourself in the right place before the holidays - finding balance - all that yummy stuff. Just looking through it tonight made me slow down a bit. Take a deeper breath.
Tonight when I crawl into bed I will begin a new book (oh man, one of my favorite things): The History of Love
And thank you again for all the birthday well wishes. It was a good day.

Happy, happy birthday! Love your sweet, positive spirit and your brilliantly creative pages and ideas. Especially love seeing you with your two boys--it's so obvious that you all love each other so much. What a blessing you are to each other--and to all of us!
Know that there are people you haven't even met who love you and are inspired by you!

A belated happy birthday wish. Glad it was a good day.
I also love to read. Just finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See - a great story about friendship. And also Marley and Me - since you have a lab you would love this.

I pick up that book everytime I walk by it in Target and then put it back because I have a stack of unread books already! Time Traveler's Wife was GREAT! Did you know they are making that into a movie? Excited about that! so glad you had a great birthday.

Glad you had such a nice birthday. I can sure relate to buying books. I am having to go into the "no buy" zone for a while until I catch. So many things interest me. I have to remember the books are still going to be in the store the next time I visit.

i, too, am about to wrap-up the memory keeper's daughter...so glad you didn't give anything away. i've been reading it in chapter doses -- not wanting to rush through like i usually would, just to move on to the next book. the time traveler's wife also ranks on my current top five. after this one, i'll be starting one more day by mitch albom. i'll let you know how it is!
:)
also, many happy wishes for the next year. i might have missed the day but it's never too late to send happiness someone's way!

I saw that one at Target, & picked it up thinking it might be about scrapbooking. Was more shocked when I turned it over and it was about a child with DS (my son has DS)! When I finish the Outlander series - I'm reading it! :)

I read the Memory Keepers Daughter a few months ago...you are right about the heavy part. But I got my absolute favorite quote of all time from that book. It was just something written in there that snagged my attn, and is now posted on my blog. "Motherhood: a word that can never truly define the experience." Love it, so true.

I'm about 3/4 through The Memory Keeper's Daughter and have been recommending to others even though I'm not done! Kim Edwards writes beautifully. I have The Time Traveler's Wife on my large to-be-read pile. I do a lot of booksharing through Bookcrossing.com... check it out! It's a great way to pay random acts of reading forward!

I have a fondness for emotional (what my husband calls "painful") books as well -- The Memory Keepers' Daughter is a stirring and haunting book. If you liked that, you owe it to yourself to read Birth of Venus and The Year of Wonders -- both excellent, artful reads. Best wishes for a love-filled year - Katie

I read The Memory Keeper's Daughter for book club. It was an interesting perspective on "keeping" the moment or even "making" the moment, as the husband did. It offered a different perspective on scrapbooking.

Just finished Any Bitter Thing by Monica Wood. It was a Very Good read. This is one I hated to see end; I highly recommend it. Next on my night stand is The Memory Keeper's Daughter - I start that one tonight, and am glad to hear it is so good.
