Cleaning up.

From a great junk/antique/flea market between Tampa & Orlando.
Got the last few things from the old place today. Simon was a serious trooper. Nothing could be as boring as waiting on mom and dad as they load up the car and clean, etc. I tried having him "help" me vacuum, sweep, etc which lasted for a couple minutes at least. And now, finally, we are done.
Man moving is a pain. No matter what, it is a pain.
One of the things we have been loving lately about Simon is that he is finally able to identify for us where all his little sayings and repetitions come from. He loves Handy Manny right now - he loves picking up the phone (or pretending to pick up a phone) and saying, "Hi (some name we can't make out), you break it, you fix it (on the show they say "you break it, we fix it"), this is Simon." Sometimes he changes it up and says "this is mommy/daddy." Lots of entertainment around here.
And lots of little delights for us to celebrate everyday. Couldn't ask for anything better than that.

Happy New Year, Ali! I hope it's a great one for you and your family. Good luck with the rest of the move!
And thanks for the smile with the story about Simon repeating lines from TV shows... I remember those days, and we still hear that from time to time. It's really something else, to watch them learn language like this... definitely moving in the right direction. Before long, more and more of his language will become more spontaneous, and you'll look back and miss the quirky little lines from movies and TV shows. But hey, it's all good, right? :)

Ali I'll be in Tampa for my granddaughter's first birthday in a couple weeks. I have all day Sunday to myself. I would love to know where that flea market is........what town? My best high school friend lives between Tampa and Orlando so we would like to meet there and shop! And by the way my daughter is the one who is going into speech therapy to work with Autistic children. She's been accepted to a college that offers an Undergrad in Communication Disorders and is on her way to becomine a ST.

ROFL! "You break it, you fix it!" Makes perfect sense to me! I know it's MUCH easier to say than do but, try to keep track of those things he says...between my three kids, I could write a book!
Good luck with all the moving stuff...we've been in our house for exactly a year and a half and just started painting this week. I also got curtains the week before Christmas, but, my kitten Molly has been climbing up them and now they are full of holes! It never ends...lol.

Hi Ali, happy new year --
wasn;t sure if you are familiar with the work of Lisa Volrath. Had never remembered seeing a mention of her so here is a link
http://www.lisavollrath.com
You do have to register to see her galleries but it is so worth it. She has started making "Gluebooks" which remind me of your artist journals. Really fantastic, juicy stuff on there. I can get lost for hours.
Enjoy 2007!

kinda nervous about doing this...I mean, this is just my little 'ole page and I'm showing it to Ali Edwards...Ali Edwards. But Ali Edwards inspired me, she inspires me...to create, to have fun...to be happy...so here goes nothing.
Hope you enjoy (and I really hope I'm doing this right)!
