Cleaning up.

From a great junk/antique/flea market between Tampa & Orlando.
Got the last few things from the old place today. Simon was a serious trooper. Nothing could be as boring as waiting on mom and dad as they load up the car and clean, etc. I tried having him "help" me vacuum, sweep, etc which lasted for a couple minutes at least. And now, finally, we are done.
Man moving is a pain. No matter what, it is a pain.
One of the things we have been loving lately about Simon is that he is finally able to identify for us where all his little sayings and repetitions come from. He loves Handy Manny right now - he loves picking up the phone (or pretending to pick up a phone) and saying, "Hi (some name we can't make out), you break it, you fix it (on the show they say "you break it, we fix it"), this is Simon." Sometimes he changes it up and says "this is mommy/daddy." Lots of entertainment around here.
And lots of little delights for us to celebrate everyday. Couldn't ask for anything better than that.

i hold moving house with going shoe shopping and going to the dentist. To be done only when absolutely necessary!!
Simon sounds like he is really developing into a dear little man. I love when my nephew answers the phone, he sounds like a squwarking parrot - says "Helooooooooow"? Its so funny. Great when you get some telemarketer!

Phew! Finally. I hope you are immensely happy in your new home.
You have no idea how glad I am to hear about Simon's acomplishments. You have to be so proud. His age is so much fun. They start defining who they are as individuals and it's always so interesting. Have fun with it.

HELP! I want to start a book just for myself, using the Dares, and some other ideas. I can not find the issure of CK that had the article last year of Intentions. When you have a minute to yourself (or want to avoif moving stuff), or if anyone else remembers, could you shoot me an e-mail? What issue so I can get it online? I just remember it wasn't all resolution-y.

CONGRATS on the move! It sounds like you're doing a great job keeping everything in perspective... being able to remember all the delights in the everyday is the key to keeping your head when life is going crazy.

You can make a "pendaison de crémaillères" now! (a celebration we make when we move into a new place to celebrate it).
Enjoy!!!

Dearest Ali,
I may sound like a crazy fan, but I just needed to write to you. As I sit here waiting for the sun to rise in AZ, I read your current article in the Feb. issue and just HAD to write. First off, I think it is so amazing that Simon is able to get his thoughts out into this big world. My son is 4 1/2 and has William's Syndrome (a genectic disorder that affects the 7th chromosome causing him to miss 20 or so genes). Luckily we got an early diagnosis (@ 2 weeks; very rare!), so our lives have constantly been inandated with therapies. We are always trying something new or exploring new options. It has not been easy. but just latley, his voice is really getting noticed. He is stringing together words (not that we always understand), and he wants to have conversations. He'll often repeat things said and (as you put it) place it in a "file in his brain" for future use. Everyday is a new experience, and something I just don't want the trouble that comes along with it. Will he be good in yet another trip to Target? Will he not get upset if i have to make a U-turn? Will someone ask how old he is and when I respond 4, will it follow with a look of "What's wrong with your kid?" I am sure that is mostly in my imagiantion, but it plagues me everytime we go out. I appreciate your trueness in your writing (which I admit feeling guilty reading about you and you have no idea who I am). It is all about truly experiencing the everyday new or routine, but making it a point to venture and not hide. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I need to go help Camryn, apparently some disater of minor proportions is occuring!
Do take care,
Marianne Barnes

Happy New Year Edwards Family. Sounds like you have all the moving mostly done. CONGRATS! I feel your pain..We recently remodled our house and I am moving my scraparea and kids play area up on the top floor. My scraparea is currently the dumping area for items we don't know where to put but use. So I feel like I am moving to a new house.
That is great about Simon. Aren't kids the best. Thanks for sharing your life with us. :)Sesil

I totally feel for your moving. I've moved at least 7 times in the past 4 years. I HATE IT.
But I do love finding new places for all of my stuff.
And opening "unimportant" boxes a few weeks later and discovering more belongings...old friends.
Happy 2007, hope you're getting the same sun Roseburg is.

Speaking of fun (which I don't equate with moving AT ALL, but being done moving - for sure!!!), have you seen this?

Made me smile...I think I will make my little man Carter a piece of toast in the morning with a special note just because of this....
Happy New Year!
