Getting ready.
Tags:Put together a scrapbook on the road and a separate journal (just for all those stories) this afternoon. I got a bunch of Disney stuff from Sandylion - I especially love the old-school Mickey stuff. Planning to take a few things along with us - some for Simon to play with and other stuff to add to the scrapbook.
I have so many checklists going on around here right now. All those things I don't want to forget + all the class stuff for this weekend at The Scrapbook Shoppe. Shipped kits today. Packing my bags. Packing Simon's bags (Chris gets to pack his own). Picked up some special goodies for Simon's travel backpack.
And how cool is this? Simon's Autism Coordinator created this story book for his big trip:
It goes through the whole proces of going on the airplane, staying in his seat, eating snacks & playing with toys & watching videos, then seeing the characters, waiting in lines (got the doctor note), riding on trains, going swimming, etc. He loves reading it and I think he is finally getting it and he is really going. So cool.
Just sent out a very quick AEzine. I am going to take a break for the next couple weeks for our vacation and our move. The next one will come out on January 1, 2007. From then on they will come out each Monday morning throughout 2007. I have lots of cool things planned and hope to continue to provide lots of ideas and inspiration.

Ali -
When we took my Autistic 2 1/2 year old to Disneyworld last July we also got them to allow his "stroller as a wheelchair". Did he need a wheelchair? No. But it allowed him to sit in his stroller in shows instead of forcing him to sit on the floor or an unfamiliar seat next to unfamiliar people. We were also able to keep in in his stroller for those few lines that the 'no line' pass didn't work at. His own personal space was great. We also ordered ahead at most restaurants and they had GFCF food waiting, GFCF fish sticks, bread, rice ice cream, even GFCF Micket Mouse waffles. It was great. They have a whole team who just takes care of these little guys who need it. We e-mail a bunch with them, even got calls from the chefs before we left home! When we arrived they knew Lucas' name and went out of their way to make sure his experience was magical!

Cool book for Simon. Zach's autism coordinator makes these books for Zach, too, and they have been a life saver......from everything having to do with his OCD tendencies to walking across the street in the morning to go to school. LOVE those little "social stories."
