$5,192.

$5,192.
That is the official number raised over the last couple days by an amazing groupd of women at Scrapin Away Vacations for Autism Speaks (in honor of Simon's 5th birthday).
How absolutely awesome is that?
And, yep, I cried. Overwhelmed with the generosity of talent, time, and treasure shown by the 200+ women in attendance and by Rollie (in the photo above to my left). She and Denise (also in the photo above) worked so hard and tirelessly to raise these funds. Good, good, people.
Wow.
Right now I am sitting in the airport in Scranton, anxiously awaiting my flights home to Chris and Simon. Home to celebrate Simon's 5th birthday today - how time flies and how completely amazing is this thing called life.
Of course, that will be a whole other post coming later today.
Peace to each and every one of you. And to the ladies I got to meet this weekend, thank you.

That is wonderful news, Ali. I am so glad that so many people are working to help autistic kids. One of my goals as a teacher is to work with autistic kids at some point in my career, and things like this motivate me even more.
Happy birthday to Simon!

Happy birthday to your Simon! What a great way to spend your weekend and how awesome that those people were able to raise that much money. I love the 'check' that you're holding!! I see that the font is from the George Cartrige of the Cricut! ;) Have a great day.

Ali The reason wonderful things like this happen to you is because of the energy you share with the world. It's all about KARMA. You so readily share of your time, passion, creativity and family, that other people and the universe want to repay you. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SIMON. I love this age.(I have three kids, 8, 5 and 3 years old)

First of all - HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIMON!! You are one super special and cute little dude!
Secondly, as one of the women who helped to raise that $5000+, I have to tell you that it was the most amazing experience. To know that we were able to raise such an awesome amount of money to go to such a worthy cause. To know that we were able to give back and give of ourselves. To feel such a connection to those directly affected by the complexities of autism. I was amazed and awestruck when I saw that foamboard check.
So, after reading the 70-some comments posted before mine this morning, even though it's not my blog here, I wanted to say "thank you" because all your comments have made my heart happy - happy to know that others who weren't there can feel the magic just like those of us who were there. Happy to know that our group of scrappers have touched even more hearts out there. Happy. Thankful. Renewed and inspired.
Go out and do something good today. Pay it forward. Acts of kindness. Anything to better someone else's day. It only takes a moment.

oh where do i start? first HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR SIMON . . .you and your momma have touched my heart for the past few years and i have enjoyed watching you grow and achieve so many goals along the way. ethan and i will continue to follow your journey and encourage you every step of the way. ali . . . it was such a pleasure to finally meet you in person and spend some time in your classes and throughout the crop. i know firsthand now that you really are one amazing woman. it was also my honor to help to raise the $5,000 PLUS for autism speaks . . .such a great charity and one that i will continue to support whenever possible. it is great to be home and be back with my family but i will always cherish the weekend we shared. thought i couldn't shed anymore more tears . . .but after reading your post and reading the comments . . .they just keep on flowing. Cherish . . . is my word . . .Cherish those around you.
