That is the official number raised over the last couple days by an amazing groupd of women at Scrapin Away Vacations for Autism Speaks (in honor of Simon's 5th birthday).
How absolutely awesome is that?
And, yep, I cried. Overwhelmed with the generosity of talent, time, and treasure shown by the 200+ women in attendance and by Rollie (in the photo above to my left). She and Denise (also in the photo above) worked so hard and tirelessly to raise these funds. Good, good, people.
Wow.
Right now I am sitting in the airport in Scranton, anxiously awaiting my flights home to Chris and Simon. Home to celebrate Simon's 5th birthday today - how time flies and how completely amazing is this thing called life.
Of course, that will be a whole other post coming later today.

Happy Birthday Simon! And I cried to Ali... for the generosity of the women and for the research that will be done to help stop autism with the money raised! It made me cry also and I wasn't even there!

I have to "seriously" comment on what a really good sport Ali is. Last night at about 1:00 a.m., our group of 8 gals went out to the lobby to take a group photo. We needed a person to take one with all 8 cameras. I saw Ali by the elevator, probably wanting to just go up to her room and crash for a few hours before starting her long trip home very early this morning. I being the New "Yawker" in the group asked Ali if she wouldn't mind taking our group pictures. She graciously said "Of course", so we piled all 8 cameras in a pile on the floor so she could start clicking away. (I, taking Ali's advice about "choices," asked her to take two different shots - vertical and horizontal.) Then, of course, that wasn't enough so we called over someone to do it all over again with Ali being photographed with our group. I had taken a class with Ali in the afternoon and if you have had the real pleasure of being with her in the classroom, you know she gives 110% for the entire class. So you can imagine after three days and 6 classes, she was exhausted, but she was so totally accomodating (and patient) with us. Thank you, Ali - as you so often say about others - "You rock!"

I was browsing your blog as I do everyday and remembered today is Simons birthday.
My son Charlie, who is 5 years old, asked who the little boy on the green ball is? I told him that his Mom is a scrapbooker and that he is Simon and today is his birthday. Charlie immediately asked if we could bring him a cupcake ( I also decorate cakes as a side job) and sing him Happy Birthday. So Simon...Charlie says..
