Celebrated Simon's 5th Birtday last night with a great little party. Amy and Ruby (+ Grandma Sammy + new baby Sawyer) were in town - it was awesome to have them there. There is something super special about Ruby. She is great with Simon and I think he can sense her kindness and gentleness. They had a fun time playing "frog" and "chase" and then playing with Simon's new train that came from Disney World. Grandma Pati, Grandma Susan, and Grandpa Gary were also there to sing and celebrate.
One of his favorite presents came from my friend Sjoera (and her little boy Spike) in The Netherlands - a Diego pillow and blanket. He loves it Sjoera - thanks girl. Auntie Jessica also sent a bunch of very cool, hip clothes. Wait till you see the Elmer's Glue shirt - awesome (of course I love it, it is about glue).
Going to put up some glow in the dark stars on his ceiling tonight (great idea Chris).
And Simon's word for the evening? Congratulations. Loved it. He was saying it over and over and it was very clear and he was very happy. We were all pretty darn happy to be celebrating with him and seeing the excitment in his eys.

Don't forget to turn those lights on in his room way before bedtime. We have the stars and forgot about the light when we first put them up...let's just say we had 2 unhappy little girls when their stars didn't work!

It sounds like you guys had a great time.
We put stars on my daughter's ceiling when she was little. She loved it. She would lie in bed and stare at them as she went to sleep. Simon will love them.

Happy Birthday Simon! Is that a Playmobil train? When my oldest son (now 20yrs old) was 4 we got one and he saved every penny to buy more G scale cars for it. We still have it and out it comes every Christmas :). It held up to all 4 of my boys...unlike some of the Playmobil cars and motorcycles that they played into peices lol. Great suff.

Here is a link to our school-but the kids page. It has an easy page that links to all of the 5 year old sites we like best. I have my own little 5 year old and he uses this page all the time to navigate to fun games. I wanted to send it to Simon for his birthday-what fun!
PS I create shortcut on my link bar and rename it with my sons name so if he gets lost in cyber world, he just clicks back to it.
