Celebrated Simon's 5th Birtday last night with a great little party. Amy and Ruby (+ Grandma Sammy + new baby Sawyer) were in town - it was awesome to have them there. There is something super special about Ruby. She is great with Simon and I think he can sense her kindness and gentleness. They had a fun time playing "frog" and "chase" and then playing with Simon's new train that came from Disney World. Grandma Pati, Grandma Susan, and Grandpa Gary were also there to sing and celebrate.
One of his favorite presents came from my friend Sjoera (and her little boy Spike) in The Netherlands - a Diego pillow and blanket. He loves it Sjoera - thanks girl. Auntie Jessica also sent a bunch of very cool, hip clothes. Wait till you see the Elmer's Glue shirt - awesome (of course I love it, it is about glue).
Going to put up some glow in the dark stars on his ceiling tonight (great idea Chris).
And Simon's word for the evening? Congratulations. Loved it. He was saying it over and over and it was very clear and he was very happy. We were all pretty darn happy to be celebrating with him and seeing the excitment in his eys.

Look at that TRAIN! I remember in a blog on the disney trip/that you picked it up for Simon's bday. Such a cool thing to see the results....TFS! Glad you made it home safe and had a great party!!!

Totally awesome. Congratulations just might be his "one little word" for this year! You have shared so many wonderful things that he has been learning and doing and saying and interacting with that it sounds like in addition to birthday wishes --CONGRATULATIONS are certainly in order. I celebrate that with you all...such a great moment.

Word of caution about the stars... had a friend put heaps and heaps and heaps around a room for her child... it was too much and scared the little tyke. They can be quite bright.

ali i have to add . . .when brett was little (he's almost 23 now) we put stars in his room and he wanted us to have some too. he put them on our ceiling fan in our room . . .they are still there. ethan loves to look at them . . .especially on a summer night when the fan is spinning. i think i'll buy some new ones for his room . . .might make the transition BACK to his room easier. d
