Stuff.
Tags:If you got the newest issue of the AEzine in your inbox you may have read that over the last couple weeks I have had over 1500 photos printed. The stack you see above is just from Disney World. And I have a plan for them...just starting to tackle the album today.
Almost all the photos I ordered were 4x6 inch - a few larger ones were thrown in for good measure. From the 4x6 inch photos I will do a lot of cropping. Some were printed at Costco and I am waiting on two big orders from Scrapbookpictures.com. It took over four hours to upload my order of 500+ prints on Monday. I just set it up and let it run its course.
Yesterday I took a morning inspiration break and headed to my favorite local antique/cool stuff store in Springfield called Ruthie B's. I could spend days in there just looking at all the stuff - if you live locally you have to take a morning or afternoon and go - they also serve tea and lunch. Brought home a couple wire baskets and a bunch of good ideas for my book. Love that kind of experience inspiration - Julia Cameroncalls it an artist date and that is just what it was - a recharge of my creative spirit.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my call for Life Art comments and questions. I so appreciate you taking the time to do that - the book will be richer because of your participation.
Back to work.

Hey Ali--are you a "matte" or "glossy" prints kindof gal? Trying to decide what I like--used to be a matte girl, but since I got a photo printer, I like the glossy. However, my printer just died (and I may die right along with it)--and I'm about to order in the next few days. Just wondering what you like? thanks!

Ahhh. Love your blog. I just have an interview for a job I really, really, really want and it is nerve racking so to chill out, I'm reading up on the blog.
Can't believe all those pics in that nice, neat pile. This is an interesting topic because I have about 10-12 rolls of pictures from a trip I took in 1999 to el salvador and I have no idea how to start the album. One page layouts are no biggie but the album is much harder. Maybe that would be a good topic for your e newsletter? Hope you are doing well. Looking forward to your newest book. The "Patterned Paper" has been VERY inspiring to me as of late.

OK, I'm cracking up...
After a (very) long scrapbooking slump, I am on a major creating high. I was in the process of a 2-day old photo sort and getting heaps of pics printed for a gazillion layouts I have in my head (I also normally print my own). While uploading my last order late last night I found your newsletter in my inbox discussing that exact thing. I had also just posted about my temporary photo chaos on my blog including a picture of a healthy stack of old photos. Then this morning what do I see on your blog! Too funny!
Happy creating!

What i noticed in the photo behind that taunting stack of pictures was the mix of technologies (old and new). I think of a sewing machine as old technology (even though I got a new one for Christmas) and that corner of the blackberry and the mouse being new technology. One of the things I love about scrapbooking is you can use all kinds of technology (new and old). Awesome photo is so many ways. Gotta love Costco's photo center!
thanks for your continued inspiration.

Love that stack of photos!
Your wire baskets are very cool. I love antique/junque stores. That's where I found the old printers tray that I put my rubber stamps in.

You said: It took over four hours to upload my order of 500+ prints on Monday. I just set it up and let it run its course.
What do you mean you set it up and let it run its course? I usually open each photo in Photoshop, adjust, then upload each photo to scrapbookpictures.com. Is there an easier -- and less time-consuming -- way to do this?
On another note: I can't wait till your class in Chantilly in a couple weeks! I was thinking I might want to make a couple of these albums and wondered if you had a list of supplies for the classes? That way I can order extras and have them on hand.
Thanks, Ali!

Hi Ali,
like so many others I am wondering just HOW do you decide what to print - and do you jazz them up first? That kind of goes against the paragraph about sacrifice and letting go of perfection you've linked in from Kim's blog... I'm guessing that with 1500+ photos printed you are just printing the ones that talk to you of the day, experience, whatever. But I would love to hear more from you about your pictures!
Thanks, Arlie

That's it. I'm signing up. Looking forward to my first edition of the AEzine. You're a great writer and always have some tidbit to share that is inspiring. I look forward to being a little more in your "community." Thanks for being yourself and doing what you do so vibrantly.

Holy cow! I have that many pics needing to be scrapped but never have had that many printed at once. In fact that is why many times I have had film developed 10 years after the event happened. Not to mention that I would NOT know where to start on scrapping those. Wanna tackle mine?

I can't believe you referenced Julia Cameron. I started my blog to chronicle my Artist's Way, but got sidetracked into being more of a mommy blog.

Wow, that is a lot of pictures. I have so many pictures from our digital camera, I need to get copies of these photos. Is there a manageable way to do this process? I get so overwhelmed.
Did you do special backgrounds from scrapbook pictures?
I would appreciate any tips you have about organizing, mangaging, and printing photos from the computer. I usually send them to Costco. Do you edit your pictures before you upload them?
Of course, I can't wait to see what you create with all those photos:)
I love the baskets. I need to find a place like that here.
