Stuff.
Tags:If you got the newest issue of the AEzine in your inbox you may have read that over the last couple weeks I have had over 1500 photos printed. The stack you see above is just from Disney World. And I have a plan for them...just starting to tackle the album today.
Almost all the photos I ordered were 4x6 inch - a few larger ones were thrown in for good measure. From the 4x6 inch photos I will do a lot of cropping. Some were printed at Costco and I am waiting on two big orders from Scrapbookpictures.com. It took over four hours to upload my order of 500+ prints on Monday. I just set it up and let it run its course.
Yesterday I took a morning inspiration break and headed to my favorite local antique/cool stuff store in Springfield called Ruthie B's. I could spend days in there just looking at all the stuff - if you live locally you have to take a morning or afternoon and go - they also serve tea and lunch. Brought home a couple wire baskets and a bunch of good ideas for my book. Love that kind of experience inspiration - Julia Cameroncalls it an artist date and that is just what it was - a recharge of my creative spirit.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my call for Life Art comments and questions. I so appreciate you taking the time to do that - the book will be richer because of your participation.
Back to work.

Reading AEzine & all the comments here, it's good to know I'm not alone in my attempt to figure out what to do with all my photos, which reside on my computer. I've been printing only on an as-needed basis, but I've begun taking so many since I got a new easy-to-use digital last fall that I am overwhelmed just trying to decide which ones to print. Also have over 1,000 from a Sept vacation and another 500 from Nov trip. I've never uploaded to have batches printed but have been online comparing services since reading your blog & AEzine today.
How did you decide which to use? Experimenting? Snapfish offers a great deal for quantity, but you didn't mention it. And some offer the first 20 or so free for newbies. I couldn't find how to order online from Costco & I don't have one here.
Also wondering about Noelia's question--do you edit before uploading to a service? I'm big on doing that before I print, but I realize that's another thing that gets me bogged down. I have always hated the thought of being locked into one size (i.e., 4x6) & always print to size after I figure out my pages. BUT...I am not acccomplishing nearly as much as I'd like.
I know this comment has become very long. Sorry. Maybe you could devote an entire blog entry or AEzine to this topic?? By the way, I truly LOVE your work, the Life Artist concept, & everything you stand for. Even when I can't read any other blogs, I try to catch yours. And I always print out my AEzine immediately. Thanks, Ali, for all the inspiration. Also looking forward to your next book. I've about worn out the one I have.
Oh yes, one more request for a column: transparencies. I love the look, but I'm having a hard time finding some in my area, either printed or clear. Again, if I print my own (Epson Color Stylus 1280), what do I buy? Where?

I'm doing the Artist's Way in a group here in Greensboro, NC. We're only 2 weeks into & it's been great. I've been really enjoyed my morning pages amazingly! I've found they really get my creative energy focused. Thank you again for all the creative energy you put out for all of us. It's amazing.

I'm so jealous you get to go to Ruthie B's! I lived in Albany/Corvallis all my life until 9 months ago. Now I live in Tennessee and unless I visit home, Ruthie B's is a little bit too far to go! Part of what I love about your blog is there's a little bit of home in it for me! Not to mention, I love your work, you're my favorite! Keep it coming...

I am in the middle (and I mean dead center) of Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. I highly recommend it to anyone who is feeling frustrated in their creative life. I also recommend it to anyone who may just want to delve deeper into an already healthy creativity kick. My very first artist's date was to an antique store. Found awesome vintage photos for inspiration and a crazy quilt put together in the 1960s. Amazing stuff. Ali you are right on! Thank you for the inspiration.
