And the winner is...
Tags:Jennifer Davis. Email me Jennifer and I will mail the kit out to you.
How in the heck did I pick the winner? Rather than going through and cutting them all up, I took them all (on 8.5x11 pages) and threw them up in the air and then, with my eyes closed...picked one up off the floor and the response closest to my finger was the winner. Very scientific. Very fun. I was hoping that Chris would be here to help me, but alas, he hasn't made it home yet...instead I got out my trusty tri-pod and took the pictures myself.
And now, here is what I have been thinking about today : if each one of you who left a comment today could tell one other person (maybe someone who does not scrapbook or someone who knows no one with autism or your mom or dad or brother or sister or grandma or neighbor or best friend or grocery checker or nice old lady down the street) about the contest and encourage them to donate $10 to the badge...could you imagine the total we could end up with?
If you live outside of the US, pick up the phone or email one person you know in the US that could make a donation on your behalf.
All along with this contest I have been saying "we." It is "we" because there is no way I could do this alone. I am one person: a mama, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a person who works from their home, a life artist - just an everyday person trying to do something positive with what I have been given. It takes all of us reaching out, all of us putting out the effort to achieve this goal. We are a bunch of individuals working together for the greater good.
Holy cow - we have raised over $30,000.
And because I seriously can't believe the number of comments and I am so over-the-top excited about this whole thing, here's a download for another class:
PERSPECTIVE DESCRIPTION: What do you see in your world right now? Record your thoughts, your photos - your very own "perspective."
PERSPECTIVE homework : Download perspectivehomework
PERSPECTIVE how to : perspectiveHOWTO-boxbook
SUPPLIES:
Box Book: Junkitz
8 sheets of patterned paper
letter stickers or stamps (you will need quite a few "i's")
a couple accents - I used epoxy circles and rub ons from Autumn Leaves
Tomorrow morning I will post another give away...can't wait to show you what I have next!

I have always loved the way you integrate texture and patterns into your scrap-work especially those that one normally would not put together. I also love the simplicity of it all, active simplicity.
And simple idea, simple actions are those that are most effective. It is quite easy to donate $10 or to reach out to someone who needs support. And that is my challenge to others!

The drawing gift was sweet but I am LOVING the free class Ali! Thanks so MUCH! Dennis and I donated this morning, my sisters this afternoon. Not rich people but I really felt like I made a difference today, and that my friend, is cool.
Thank you again for the free class, I feel like a winner too.

I mentioned it as well on my blog yesterday and at least one person from japan wanted to make a donation and I hope others did the same by contacting a friend.
I hope your badge gets more and more and that we shall win this race! Maybe you will meet the man himself....Kevin, wouldn't that be the coolest!!

Ali - I love your method of picking a winning name, lol! Your cute doggy looked like he (she?) wanted to get in on the action! We have a german shepherd who always wants to be wherever we are too! I was finally able to donate to the autism badge...it really felt good. I hope you reach your goal. I visit your blog just about daily...it's my "before bedtime" routine most nights.
One quick note about the classes your're offering free downloads for...I am having trouble getting them to download. I get an error message that says, "file is corrupted". I'm not too computer saavy, but will try and have my husband help me figure out what's wrong. If anyone out there knows what that error message means, I'd appreciate any info! I'd love to be able to "take" a class (or two) of Ali's!! I'm keeping a binder of all your columns in Creating Keepsakes, from the very first one that came out last January. I love your style...it "speaks" to me!

Ali, thank you so much for sharing such wonderful insight on everyday things. I have been struggling with "finding" myself right now, creatively and mindfully. This project is going to be an awesome jump start to regrouping and starting fresh!

I was inspired to visit your blog today and leave a comment. Now I see there was a contest! How fun. I will be sure to visit tomorrow and enter.
It is amazing to watch the mothers I know who have children with Autism. They take maternal devotion and commitment to the next level. It has touched me deeply.
I have had the privilege of learning more about the journey through my children's friends and classmates. It seems to take so much patience, commitment and drive. And it seems to make a remarkable difference. My decision to support this cause is because I know it could have just as easily affected one of my three sons.
It seems the need to intervene with children of Autism is very intensive and the daily demands relentless. I also imagine the need for outside help and support is dire when a family is faced with this additional challenge.
I admire you and your family for taking on this challenge with enthusiasm. I wish for your family tremendous joy in this adventure.

Can I just say THANK YOU!Thank you for joining so many people together, striving to acheive something, raising awareness of Autism. Parents with Autistic children, grandparents, friends and those who suffer the condition all need our support and acceptance. Autism speaks is a fantastic cause & it is so very empowering to know that as a group us lil' ol' scrapbookers and life artists are going to make a difference. So to You Ali and to all those that have donated and asked another donate Thank you for teaching me about true people power, staying passionate & acceptance.
