Simon says...
Tags:"whatcha doing people?"
Lots of talking coming for this little guy lately...and some pretty good antics too. Last night while Mom, Chris and I were watching American Idol (known around here as the "singing show") he grabbed the tub of cookie dough and headed back to our bedroom for a little feast. Yum. Daddy caught him on that one. He (Simon) laughed and laughed.
He is asking to be tickled and to be chased.
He says, "I cry myself" on the way to school every morning and has been choosing to "I take a break" most days when we get in the door of the classroom. The class has a spot set up just for "taking breaks" with some big beanbags so he can calm down and acclimate before making other activity choices.
He is really into Little Einsteins this week. Lots of "patting" going on (they pat their legs to make their rocket go fast).
He feeds Lily 2 cups of dog food in the morning (and sometimes sneaks a little bite for himself).
Simon and Chris and my Mom will be joining me up here in Portland tomorrow night for part of the CK Convention. Fun to have them here with me to see what I do, etc. Looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces over the course of the weekend.
And man, those numbers keep on rising. It is so, so exciting.

WOOHOO, Simon!!! I remember when Brendan was starting to do all that, and I was just like woohoo!! It's an amazing experience, made even more amazing by the fact that some drs told us not to hold our breathes for him to ever talk or even do things on his own! Just awesome!!!!

Oh goodness Ali, reading your post made me laugh. My son does all the same things. He is 5 years old and autistic also. He always wants tickles and wants you to chase him. He loves to chase his big sis. He even asks for some wrestling moves.
He constantly steals food from the refrigerator and goes off to eat it. I am never surprised to find a banana peel under the coach or pieces of bread left in his bed.
I am curious about how your son gets along with your dog. I've heard that dogs are great for autistic kids but I am afraid my son may body slam the poor thing.
Thanks for sharing. This made me smile.
