Simon Says.

This morning a little body climbed into our bed and announced: "ice cream sandwich on my face."

Yep: he got up before us, headed over to the fridge, proceeded to open up the freezer, grab a ice cream sandwich and eat it (opening the wrapper all by himself apparently) without making a sound.

Nice.

I was chuckling and had to post. My son did that once, but he got out a stick of butter and painted the dining room table with it, as well as eat it, why he chose butter, I'm still wondering! Thanks for sharing, that put a big ol' smile on my face :D

What a great way to start a day! Isn't it always just the tiniest things that make the biggest impressions?

Hope you have a great day!

Simon is a guy after my own heart. Life's short eat dessert first...why not for breakfast. Way to go Simon!! Ali I just took your Life Words class at Recollections in AZ yesterday and loved it. Ali -
You are SUCH an inspiration to me. My list of "urgent-must-be-done-LAST-WEEK" is growing exponentially, the number of 'little things' broken around the house is likewise growing at a mind-boggling rate...IEP's, doing things "just so", as to minimize outbursts...is really wearing on me.
And then I remember I'm not in this alone - there are plenty of us who find ourselves in WAY beyond what we signed up for...
Thanks for your blog of encouragement...hope he didn't make too much of a mess with his breakfast!

My 3 1/2 year old autist helped himself to a slice of whole wheat bread yesterday all over the living room rug. But you gotta give him points for choosing a healthy snack! :) Now I'm totally craving ice cream sandwiches!

    Your kid's awesome. LOL.
Last year our power went out at 6 a.m. By 9 a.m. it was still out. My then 9 year old sauntered into the kitchen. "Ice cream for breakfast", I declared.
But for a boy to help himself to ice cream while the parents are sleeping-that's awesome...

This made me smile. I find it hard not to smile when my son does stuff like this. Stuff that marks progress but, at the same time, goes against all conventional wisdom. Love that our kids think differently. Love that it often manifests itself as a creative spark. And even moreso, I love that I have people in my life who remind me of this. :)
