Last year our power went out at 6 a.m. By 9 a.m. it was still out. My then 9 year old sauntered into the kitchen. "Ice cream for breakfast", I declared.
But for a boy to help himself to ice cream while the parents are sleeping-that's awesome...

Ice cream sandwiches for breakfast sounds good to me!

This made me smile. I find it hard not to smile when my son does stuff like this. Stuff that marks progress but, at the same time, goes against all conventional wisdom. Love that our kids think differently. Love that it often manifests itself as a creative spark. And even moreso, I love that I have people in my life who remind me of this. :)

the good news is that that's a totally normal kid thing for him to do... the bad news... it is a constant battle. every single morning my girls get up and find SOMETHING to get into. I'm totally putting a lock on my pantry!
