thinking in the car
Tags: Going through the photos from this last weekend. Love this one.
One of the things about Simon is that he has always been quiet in the car. Every once in awhile he will yell out "school bus" or "city bus" or "US flag" or "no school" but for the most part he just enjoys the ride.

Wow, he looks like a little carbon copy of your husband there. Adorable boy!

It's something about just enjoying the moment if us adults would do that more we would love our lives so much better don't you think. I am really having a good time with my life and just thinking about whats in it for me today, right now.

What an amazing picture of an amazing little being. My son is grown up now, but what I really wish I had is a recording of his little boy voice. Just to help me remember what my world sounded like back then.
Thanks for sharing your world:)

He is so precious. I have so many quiet/serious pictures of Camden in the car like this. For Camden it's about half and half. Some days he is quiet, just staring out the window... other days he is a little chatterbox and he speaks so softly I can't hear him. lol

if Maddie had her way, we would
ride
and
ride
and
ride
with the window down, blowing her hair...

Ali, sometimes the things you write about Simon touch my heart so much that I finally had to post a reply. My almost 6-year-old grandson (who I am raising) has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS. He is very high-functioning and doing well in school (just finished Kindergarten). There are so many things that you mention that Simon does (like the "quiet in the car" thing) that are exactly like what my grandson does. In so many ways, he is an easier child to raise than my three boys were. Your photography is always inspiring tome and this is one shot I haven't taken but will now. Thank you for sharing your life with us!

What a wonderful picture. You have a beautiful son. I have an autistic son, now grown, and they are very loving, special people.

What a lovely picture of Simon. your stories of Simon remind me so much of my son-Steven who is also autistic. He too would just sit in the car not say a word, other than the odd scream every now and then, why? not sure.
