What a great question, Ali! I LOVE to take photos of everything except PEOPLE. Of course, I'm talking about adults. I love to take photos of kids and babies. I think my reason for not taking many "people" shots is so many of my friends and family "shy away" from the camera as soon as I whip it out. Therefore, I'm much more comfortable taking a picture of a tree or a mountain. The trees, etc... always seem to sit still for me long enough to get a good shot, too. :) I love all those "scenic" photos, don't get me wrong, but I'd love to take good portraits and candid shots of my friends and family as well.
Whew... that was a long explanation.
Again, thanks for asking!
-Rachael

Current obstacle: printing pics in the size I need for scrapping.
Growing obstacle: manual focus - I'm having a hard time getting photos I like and worth keeping.
These obstacles have become less so since I've been keeping up with you and Becky. Thanks!!!!

My biggest photo struggle is that I have always used point and shoots and never understood the basic foundations of photography until finding the blogoshpere and seeing what really great photos look like. Now I finally got a Canon Rebel XTi and I am walking on cloud 9, but I want to learn how to use the camera in manual and take shots like the ones you take of Simon. They are clear and sharp and tell a bit of a story. I also need to come up with a system of organizing my photos after uploading them to my computer. Thanks for the opportunity to win Stacey's new book Photo Freedom.

Think I struggle with same thing as most of the others. Too many photos to scrap and store. Another thing is that I struggle with is to get good sharp pictures when taking macro pictures. (like of insects etc)

My biggest struggle is to stop taking so many photos! Ahh, but that'll never happen.

My struggle is remembering the details from so long ago... pre - digital.
Also storage...chronologically, event??
And struggling to get them on a page...especially those pre-digi ones!!

Thank you for this opportunity, Ali. My biggest struggle is actually knowing that a photo does not always have to be perfect to be beautiful. It really holds me back from using them in any project. Take care.

The same as every one else I am sure I am literally drowning in photos, then I want every page to be perfect am hopelessly slow at scrapping, work full time, take care of my kids by myself and they participate in highly demanding sports so at the end of the day I am left with a pile of mostly gorgeous photos which are currently sitting on my bench and I have no idea how to scrap them or what to do with them. . . . this all from me who many would regard as an obessive and good scrapper!

I have my photos organized fairly well, by year/month/events within the month. The challenging/time consuming part is sorting the best photos from all photos and then printing the favorites. Like someone said above, I obviously can't scrapbook ALL these pics but I need to at least pick out/sort the most important ones!

Signing in late here. But my biggest struggle is that I LOVE all my pictures. Love them. So it's quite a challenge to pick which ones to highlight on a page. I know I can do it. I can. I can. . .(sigh)

my biggest struggle is my old photos. whilst I fight all the time to keep my digital ones in some sort of order, back them up etc etc, My oldest pre digital photos sit in a drawer, unordered and un-used. I have little or no details about who when where and it just depresses me to open the drawer. I need to face this head on - one day!

Hello Ali - Wow - you have alot of comments here! I'm impressed that you've made it this far!
I'm so excited about SJ's new book - and the fact I'll be seeing her in person in Calgary, at Camp Croppin!
As for my biggest challenge - taking photos indoors! Unless I've got daylight and the big picture window - the photos usually, er' "suck." Lighting, backgrounds, shadows - you name it - it is a problem.
cheers

My biggest struggle is taking good photos indoors. I don't like the pics I make indoors. Lightning, flash/no flash, shadows......
How can I solve this???

1. How to organise myself from the click of the shutter to photos in viewable formats!
2. How to sucessfully print pictures in sizes other than 6x4 or 7x5. I've tried but the results are always a surprise - some good some bad! I'd like to remove the guesswork!

I have been taking photos on a digital camera for the past 5 and a half years and I struggle with the number of photos I take and actually printing them out so I can put them in an album or scrapbook them. I do print out some for scrapbooking, but I think I need a better system. And I am also looking for ideas on long term storage for my photos. Thanks!

My biggest struggle apart from terrible dank weather and zero light here in the UK at the moment(and if i'm honest.. most of the year!!), is lens envy!!

My biggest photo struggle at the moment is lighting. it's really grey and dark (and rainy) here in Northern Germany at the moment and I find it a real challenge to take my project 365 photos. But I'll just GO for it. Thanks for all your inspiration.
