Altho I'm sold on digital, the time and effort required to categorize, name, crop, fix, download, upload to a finisher, etc., is excessive, and I find it difficult to find the time physically and mentally to do it all. Then I get behind and it really turns into a chore to get them processed. I am terrified--even tho I back them up--that my computer will crash and I'll lose them. But I still love digital photography!

Two key challenges:
1) Taking the pictures. My DSLR is rather big and I don't have it with my all the time. My digital point and shoot (a Casio Exilm) delivers far less quality than the DSLR and that doesn't motivate me to use it.
2) Doing something--digital layouts or whatever--with pictures after I've taken them. My organization system is pretty good. But I find myself just staring at screen thinking "what should I do here."
Photo Freedom sounds like it could help. Thanks.

Biggest problem? How long do you have? No really, just "what in the world do I do with all the pictures?". Nothing big, really, just a bajillion pictures to organize!

Hi Ali!!! I love your style!! Keep up the good work. :) My biggest struggle is keeping all my pictures in order and knowing if I should scrap them in chronological order or be a 'free spirit' about it. All part of the process, right?

I have finally been printing my photos which has made scrapbooking much easier, but what to do with all they photos once I have them. I've been putting them in shoe boxes, but then they can't be enjoyed. I've actually thought of putting a book together of photos for each year (and printing) and then scrapbooking my favorite ones or the ones that are perfect for the story I want to tell. What do you think? I guess I need the book.:)

Oh, how I need this book! I have many struggles, lol, but one is, how should I deal with before-digital photos? Many are such special moments, yet the backgrounds look bad, the quality is off, etc.

I have a mac so (at the very least) I do upload my photos and organize by event. My biggest obstacle is actually printing them and framing or scrapbooking them!
Have a great day!!

biggest struggle... organizing them online. i am NOW finally digital... and just like my constantly overflowing email inbox - i can't come up with a good prgram for keeping everything in order. AND updating the long distance relatives via email - or shutterfly - or something. STILL haven't even done a THING with Christmas photos! ugh! HELP! PICK ME PICK ME!

The imperfect picture - I am working on this but I still find it a struggle. You have also addressed this before and I know it is something I just need to make up my mind to accept - The not so perfect picture. My three children do not like to smile for the camera so I have tried to just take more candid shots. But recently at a family gathering we were taking group family shots - one of my kids decided to make a fuss - not too uncommon - and everyone tried to make her smile. This was not working so I said to just continue with the pictures as this is life so as it is. Learning to embrace life as it is perfect or imperfect.

Hi Ali! I think my biggest photo struggle is trying to decide which photos I'd like to scrapbook. I love them all, so how do I choose!?

my biggest obstacle is general photo management. i don't have a system that i use consistantly. i shoot RAW, so everything needs to be converted before i can print them or play. i'm awful at tagging photos and i seldom delet photos - even when i end up with 50 from a 30 minute period.
i'd love to frame more of them or scrap more of them, but it seems that by the time i actually "get some out of the computer" i'm completely exhausted!

My biggest photo struggle is getting everyday moments. I love to photograph events and places we go but forget to document the little everyday moments.

Very nice, thanks so much. Here are two of my biggest photography challenges:
1) Being diligent about properly backing up my digital photos (now everything is on my hard drive - no disks or alternate hardware backup).
2) Creating an electronic filing system that will make my photos easier to find (now everything's filed in a folder by year, and within the year there are event or date folders with the name of the photo being the number assigned by the camera - doesn't really work when searching).
Thanks Ali - love the giveaway.

My biggest photo struggle is my husband! He is the photographer of our family and though I do a pretty good job myself, he takes MORE [than anyone on earth needs to] than I can keep up with! And they're all so good, I want to use them all! And I try... but I mean really, do I really need 100 pictures of the fish? LOL!

I need to get my photos off my computer and do something with them. I mostly just admire them, maybe email a few to family/friends but that's it.

that and organizing them on the computer or anywhere else.
