Three Things : Weekdays + Creative Family Giveaway
Tags:One of the things that remains constant for all of us are the days
of the week. Each day of our lives present new stories to tell. When I
am on the lookout for supplies I gravitate towards anything that
includes the days of the week or some sort of calendar/date component. These are great supports for my everyday style of picture-taking and scrapbooking.
1. 7gypsies A Year In The Life clear stamps : Completely universal. I especially like stamps such as these that can be used on so many different projects.
2. Days of the week stickers from Papier Valise : Click on the paper section of her shop to access these stickers. Watch out, this shop has tons of great stuff. I also love the French days of the week stickers.
3. Teresa Collins Journal It collection : A bunch of the pieces in this collection include a calendar or day of the week accents (scroll down the link to see more of the collection).
[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Today's giveaway is a book I have been recently treasuring: The Creative Life: How To Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.
This is one of those books I wish had been available before Simon was born. So many ideas for cultivating creativity and appreciating nature and living a very full and joyfully simple existence. A great gift for a new Mom or someone with small children in the house.
You can read more about Amanda on her wonderful blog: SouleMama.
Leave a comment below and let me know what is your favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together. A random winner will be chosen on Wednesday night around 5pm Pacific.
[ Look for today's layout to be posted at 10am pacific. ]

we travel together.
and everyone thinks we're crazy for it. but we take our kiddos to every single place we've been to all over europe. it makes our trips ten times harder, but also that much more special. they just get so excited about stuff. it's awesome. :)

Ooo, I've been wanting this book! Our family fun includes board & card games of course, nature walks and bike rides. This year will be the first year our youngest is old enough to help sell at the farmers market, so that's become something we enjoy doing together as a family as well.

Wow! As I am thinking about this I am suprised at how many traditions we have unconciously started with our 3 kids. The time I treasure the most right now is bedtime storytime. My oldest is 6 and can read pretty much anything on his own but is still at the age were he likes me to read to him. Sitting on the bed with the boys while nursing my daughter, the smell of baby lotion in the air, watching them get wrapped up in a story will be a memory that I will cherish forever. Thanks for making me stop for a moment and think about so many wonderful things. I hope I win that book too! :)

Our favorite family time together is Sunday morning at the Granger Cafe. Every Sunday we make breakfast, drink coffee and read the Sunday Paper on our patio (weather permitting of course). The kids take turns with the funnies, My husband works on the crossword and I look at the ads! This book looks fabulous and I love your three things this week too.

Our favorite family time is spent at bedtime, piling on the bed together and reading stories--classics like the Narnia books where the suspense builds from day to day. We also enjoy taking walks around the neighborhood together. :)
This looks like a fabulous book. Thanks for the opportunity to win it.

The book looks like a treasure! My husband and I don't have children yet, but at the end of the day we talk about what our favorite part of the day was. This helps us recap our day and go to sleep thinking of the positives in our lives.

It seems silly but we love to go to 7-11 and get Slurpees, especially when it's warm out but even in the winter too! It creates a time when we're focusing on us and our son, and gives us a moment to talk to each other and laugh.

We are from MN, and the winter can be long if you don't enjoy some different activities. For the last 5 winters, one of our family traditions is going to "open skating" at an indoor arena nearby. We go every Sunday afternoon, that we can, from noon to one. They each started holding "walkers", but now skate on their own pretty fast. They are 8 and 5, and they have a ton of fun playing tag with us, and zooming around the rink. We often see friends from school there too. It's great exercise, and fun to skate around listening to the music. Afterwards, they always get a doughnut, which is a treat.

We have a 18 month old, a three year old and a 7 year old and we live in West Michigan very near the shore of Lake Michigan. One of our favorite things to do as a family( nearly every week) is drive the coast and stop at various parks and beaches. The car ride is so relaxing and the scenery in stunning. Our kids love to hear the stories my husband and I have of all the different spots from our childhoods and even our dating and wedding. We are sharing memories while creating new ones.

Our favorite thing is camping together. There is usually some difficulty involved that brings us together as a team. Then there is that quiet time at night around the fire where we sit and talk. Hiking, fishing, cooking -- it's all talk-inducing.

since my dh is always working late or in grad school - i bring the kids every night to my parents so they can have the experience of sitting together at a dinner table to unwind and share their day- the kids love it and so do my parents!

Myfavorite thing to do as a family is probably reading aloud great books. We've all benefited from these, no matter what age. It is especially wonderful to share with our children books my husband and I loved as children. My scrapbooks are full of pictures of us reading in many different places.

Every night everyone piles into my daughters bed and we read stories until everyone is asleep. Eventually we wake up and take my son and put him in his own bed. We have had a bit of a nap and can begin our night together fresh.

We spend a lot of time together as a family, probably more than most. We homeschool, farm, eat all our meals together. But the thing we enjoy the most is reading together. It's a ritual to gather together in the evenings and listen while I read a book aloud to everyone. We've read all the Little House Books, Harry Potter books, and other oldies and goodies.

We have a 5 year old boy and three year old boy/girl twins. We are also expecting twin boys in about 4 weeks...right now our favorite thing to do together is play hide and seek. Pretty simple - but the kiddos LOVE it!

The thing that I feel brings us closest together as a family is taking long road trips together. We eat dinner together every night, we have family game night, we do movie nights, but I tell you, there is nothing like spending 2-3 weeks 24/7 with the family! Or even one 10 hour day driving together. We gather up all our favorite car games and CD's and really have a great time. My boys are 7 and 10 and we've been traveling by car with them since they were both babies. They love to travel and are easily entertained and we love the time to really connect. No one can leave the room, but they can put headphones on to listen to music if they need to chill out. But we have had some our greatest family discussions so far in our van!

My favorite thing to do as a family is our big Christmas Eve dinner with our daughters, their husbands and three grandkids. We open one gift before dinner while enjoying appetizers, have a wonderful prime rib dinner and then open gifts after dinner. I am a Christmas junkie so the house and tree are decorated to the nines.

I, too, wish I'd had that book years ago when my girls were little.
Even though they aren't yet all in albums, one of our favourite things to do is look through old photographs, to see how we've all grown and changed through the years. They particularly love the trip down the "hairstyles" memory lane.
