Three Things : Weekdays + Creative Family Giveaway
Tags:One of the things that remains constant for all of us are the days
of the week. Each day of our lives present new stories to tell. When I
am on the lookout for supplies I gravitate towards anything that
includes the days of the week or some sort of calendar/date component. These are great supports for my everyday style of picture-taking and scrapbooking.
1. 7gypsies A Year In The Life clear stamps : Completely universal. I especially like stamps such as these that can be used on so many different projects.
2. Days of the week stickers from Papier Valise : Click on the paper section of her shop to access these stickers. Watch out, this shop has tons of great stuff. I also love the French days of the week stickers.
3. Teresa Collins Journal It collection : A bunch of the pieces in this collection include a calendar or day of the week accents (scroll down the link to see more of the collection).
[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Today's giveaway is a book I have been recently treasuring: The Creative Life: How To Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.
This is one of those books I wish had been available before Simon was born. So many ideas for cultivating creativity and appreciating nature and living a very full and joyfully simple existence. A great gift for a new Mom or someone with small children in the house.
You can read more about Amanda on her wonderful blog: SouleMama.
Leave a comment below and let me know what is your favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together. A random winner will be chosen on Wednesday night around 5pm Pacific.
[ Look for today's layout to be posted at 10am pacific. ]

We love to eat together. We turn off all technology as such and sit around and eat together. Right now my oldest is only 5 so they aren't trying to get away, but I really hope that we can continue to eat at least one meal a day as a family, together! (I LOVE, LOVE your site and scrapbook ideas. I am so thankful to have found your blog!!!)

We love to read together...in fact, whenever a book is being made into a movie, we can't see it until we've finished the book! The kids are older now--15, 12 & 8, but we already have Prince Caspian on tape for our road trip this weekend!

We also love to read together...instead of movie night, we go to Barnes & Noble, each pick out a lower-priced book or magazine, and go home and cuddle up on the couches with blankets and snacks and the books! So fun to snuggle and read together, and share what we are reading about...love it!

Oooohhhh, I've only seen the cover of that book...not had a chance to peek inside yet. What fun! As crazy as life can be these days, it's the simple moments I treasure most with my family; a walk, playing cards, reading books...just enjoying each others' presence.

Hi Ali! Thanks for all the inspiration.
My favorite thing to do with my family (which is now just my 6yr old daughter and I) is to go to the San Diego Zoo or the Wild Animal Park. We both love animals so much and we could just stare at the baby elephants and the baby lion cubs all day. and sometimes we do! ;)

We have made it a family tradition to go to Galena, IL every Thanksgiving. The picturesque surroundings with the rolling hills, wild roaming turkeys, and the star filled nights makes every holiday one we talk about for the rest of the year.
Thanks for offering the giveaway.

Our children are nearly grown (23 and 18 and the oldest living 3 1/2 hours away) but for years I think that our fav time is in the evening when we all come back together after a long day of being apart and a part of our separate lives (does that make sense?)and relishing the discussion of what our days have been about. Then in the summer my husband leaves our little farm in WNC to venture to an adventure as a salmon fisherman off the Bering Sea in AK. Our best summers without their dad was when we deliberately made a decision to come together on our ride home (listening to quiet music - Kenny G versus the Beach Boys - they WERE much younger then), going to our separate spots once we were home and spending 15 minutes alone then gathering together to fix dinner and sit outside and talk about our day. It preserved my sanity as a "single" summertime mom -

One of my favorite things to do as a family is just to eat dinner together. We live a very active and hectic life because of all the sports my boys play and to just be able to sit and re-group and catch up on the days happenings is wonderful.

We love spending the evening enjoying a hot, home cooked meal followed by a game of Mexican Train (like dominos - but with a train - I haven't a clue what Mexico has to do with it). Anyway, it's fun for the whole family and the game's length can be adjusted to whatever you like. We try to do this at least once a week and often invite the kids' Grandparents. . . very fun! : )

As a family, our biggest enjoyment is eating out. We like to go out and watch a movie and then go out to eat. The kids enjoy it so much and my husband and I do too.

What a great book, I have heard terrific things about it on various blogs. My family loves to play board games on Friday night, our favorites are Go Fish & Monopoly.
Thanks,
Tiffany

My kids are older now ( 20 & 21) and not here very often. I LOVE having them for dinner and just sitting at the table long after we are finished just talking. No rush to do the dishes. Enjoying that we are now becomming friends!

We always make time to eat dinner together at the end of each day. No distractions, like tv. Just us talking about our day.
