Three Things : Weekdays + Creative Family Giveaway
Tags:One of the things that remains constant for all of us are the days
of the week. Each day of our lives present new stories to tell. When I
am on the lookout for supplies I gravitate towards anything that
includes the days of the week or some sort of calendar/date component. These are great supports for my everyday style of picture-taking and scrapbooking.
1. 7gypsies A Year In The Life clear stamps : Completely universal. I especially like stamps such as these that can be used on so many different projects.
2. Days of the week stickers from Papier Valise : Click on the paper section of her shop to access these stickers. Watch out, this shop has tons of great stuff. I also love the French days of the week stickers.
3. Teresa Collins Journal It collection : A bunch of the pieces in this collection include a calendar or day of the week accents (scroll down the link to see more of the collection).
[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Today's giveaway is a book I have been recently treasuring: The Creative Life: How To Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.
This is one of those books I wish had been available before Simon was born. So many ideas for cultivating creativity and appreciating nature and living a very full and joyfully simple existence. A great gift for a new Mom or someone with small children in the house.
You can read more about Amanda on her wonderful blog: SouleMama.
Leave a comment below and let me know what is your favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together. A random winner will be chosen on Wednesday night around 5pm Pacific.
[ Look for today's layout to be posted at 10am pacific. ]

Our favorite family activity hands down is going for a nature walk and just being outside surrounded by nature. There is always something special about fresh air, it always rejuvinates my spirit.

My husband's and my family are very, very different, but one thing that both families have in common is our love for playing games as a family. We love to get together, be crazy and let loose. I have grown much closer to my in-laws through playing dominoes, Scattergories, cards, Catch Phrase, etc. We get to see each other's real personalities when we play, and I enjoy the time we spend together.
One way that I have grown closer to my own sisters-in-law is through scrapbooking. Much of my scrapbooking time also includes one-on-one time with my sisters-in-law and my husband's aunt. Again, we get to know each other so much better in these times when we get together to be creative.

Our favorite thing to do is packing up and driving to the beach. We stay there all day-the only money we spend is on the gas... we picknic- play- nap- and collect stuff.

Oh, I love that book! I am eager to own it, too. I visit her blog regularly (as I do your blog, Ali). My favorite thing to do with my wonderful child is to plan & execute healthy meals - right now gearing up for packing camp lunches every day. We want to be low impact, low trash. Wish us luck!

My favorite family moment is: all together in the "big bed" playing, laughing, reading books or also watching a family movie or cartoons...

My absolute 3 favorite things we do with our 2 boys are (1) Saturday mornings we all go to the children's museum followed by lunch at Whole Foods (2)We ALWAYS talk about their favorite part of the day as well as their least favorite part of their day at bedtime. It really gives them a chance to talk about anything they want-such a great conversation starter at any age. (3) We continue to tell them about their new baby brother or sister that's in mommy's tummy-asking them what they think the baby is, how they'll play with the baby, and read about how big the baby is right now inside me-this week it's as "long as a banana and as heavy as a tomato"-they really understand in that way, and it has REALLY started the bonding between them and the new baby on the way which brings our whole family together.

Every Sunday we have family dinner, that includes Grandma's and Grandpa's Aunts and Uncles and Cousins. Our girls love it, and look forward to it every week.
Thanks

Our son is just 13 months old so our family time may be a bit different than the rest. We love to go to our zoo and to snuggle on the couch and read books.

My favorite family time is eating meals together. We all sit down to dinner together 5-6 days out of the week. I especially love it when we eat outside, for some reason we seem to linger and talk longer when we do this. Quite a few of my oldest dd's friends have commented to her they think this (us all eating together) is so cool! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Blessings, Rebecca

Well, when I was younger I can't really think of anything my parents really did and since I have no kids there is nothing I do.

We love to spend Sunday afternoons
at a local bookstore/coffee shop.
We use the time to explore new
books, magazines, talk, explore
new ideas, do crossword puzzles,
seek inspirations, and so much more. Bookstores and coffee shops go
hand in hand and are natural places
develop creativity. Its a tradition,
I hope we continue for years to come.

We have 3 kids, ages 9, 6 and 3. We spend a LOT of family time together - just like it that way. The kids love to hang out in my scrap room where we scrap, color, paint or use modeling clay. I would guess that the kids would say their favorite thing is Family Movie Night. We pick out a movie as a family once every 2 weeks, grab some snacks and pile in Mommy & Daddy's bed to cuddle and watch a good movie. If we're lucky, Daddy stay awake throughout the whole movie! :) Thanks for the link to the book - off to check it out! Julie

Oooh, I've had my eye on that book for a while. I'm glad to hear you like it.
We have a 6-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son. We like to play board games, draw and paint, make cards for loved ones, sing and dance, wrestle, play hide and seek.
I don't have a specific favorite thing to do. As long as we're all together and happy and in the moment, it's perfect. Sometimes we're all together, but someone may be cranky. And sometimes one of us may be distracted. But when we're all meshing, it's so special. It just feels right.

Our family enjoys biking on a trail in our home town. The trail ends at a park and the girls get to play! It is a refreshing & relaxing part of our daily ritual. Thanks for the chance to win! The book sounds awesome!

Wow what a cool book ! the youngest of our 3 boys is 9, they love nature; family gathering is almost always hiking and picnic, even if it's not lunch or dinner (kinda afternoon snack)Everyone gets a moment to talk to each other and play together : no tv no pc or nintendo ! each time it's great !
