Three Things : Weekdays + Creative Family Giveaway
Tags:One of the things that remains constant for all of us are the days
of the week. Each day of our lives present new stories to tell. When I
am on the lookout for supplies I gravitate towards anything that
includes the days of the week or some sort of calendar/date component. These are great supports for my everyday style of picture-taking and scrapbooking.
1. 7gypsies A Year In The Life clear stamps : Completely universal. I especially like stamps such as these that can be used on so many different projects.
2. Days of the week stickers from Papier Valise : Click on the paper section of her shop to access these stickers. Watch out, this shop has tons of great stuff. I also love the French days of the week stickers.
3. Teresa Collins Journal It collection : A bunch of the pieces in this collection include a calendar or day of the week accents (scroll down the link to see more of the collection).
[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Today's giveaway is a book I have been recently treasuring: The Creative Life: How To Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.
This is one of those books I wish had been available before Simon was born. So many ideas for cultivating creativity and appreciating nature and living a very full and joyfully simple existence. A great gift for a new Mom or someone with small children in the house.
You can read more about Amanda on her wonderful blog: SouleMama.
Leave a comment below and let me know what is your favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together. A random winner will be chosen on Wednesday night around 5pm Pacific.
[ Look for today's layout to be posted at 10am pacific. ]

We eat dinner together every night - without the tv on! That gives us time to talk about our day and catch up with each other. We also have pizza, popcorn and movie night once a week just us.

Hey there Ali. We have two kids, 3 and almost 5. One of our favorite things to do is cuddle on our couch and read books. Our oldest is reading now, so it is so exciting to see her sound out words. Trying to treasure these times as they are fleeting!! Have a good day.

Love your ideas and prompts. When the weather is nice (and sometimes when its not) we like to go on family hikes. We take our dogs, the kids and cameras. We head to woods, streams, parks trails, mostly areas with not many people, and we just go! My favorite pages I do are from these adventures!

Our thing that brings us together is hiking in the upper pennisula every summer. We can really take the time to connect and just be toghether out in the woods. I long for it all year long and am so happy when it is time to head to the north woods agian.

My favorite thing to do is jump on the trampoline with my family. It's so much fun to hear my kids laugh and to feel like a child myself.

As a family, we love to play games. We play cards and board games and sometimes we make up our own games. I'm constantly amazed at my boys that they can come up with new versions of the games we play.

We go camping! Everyone pitches in to make camp, set up the tent, haul firewood, and of course there's time around the campfire eating smores!

Another vote here for 'anything outside'. There is always something fun to do outside, and it totally brings out my kids' sense of wonder and curiousity - and as a parent, I love just watching them learn about the world around them!

If I win I would keep the scrappy goodies but give the book away to a dear friend who will become a first time mom in November.

At the end of the day, we get together as a family and one by one tell each other what our favorite part of the day was. It is so fun to hear what our 8 and 5 year old come up with. There are also lots of delightful surprises every now and then. I could usually guess what their favorite part of the day was like eating frozen yogurt or playing with friends. But when they say simple stuff like "being with you" or "walking together", it simple takes my breath away :)

Family Disco Hour - okay so it is not a complete hour but we turn on the music and just dance, jump, laugh, scream, sing at the top of our lungs to get the extra energy out of the kids and they think it is funny watching mom and dad dance. Hopefully they get the dancing gene from me and not my husband. He dances like he is boxing someone on the dance floor. We love disco dancing hour. I have three very little kids. ages 4,2,1 years and so getting all their energy out is important. Then to wind down we have the reading couch and we read books before bed. So that is what we do. LOVE IT! :)

Love those days of the week stickers! May be replacing the cool russell & hazel mini label stickers that I've been using for days and dates... hmmm. :)
My family is scattered about, but one thing we all still love to do when we're together is play games. Cards, board games, frisbee, etc, etc. Low key and just about being together. My bf & I are both in crazy busy work phases of our lives, so daily routines at home are tough right now. Even if we don't have dinner together every night, we do *something* together every night - a walk, a beer on the deck, checking out the progress in the gardens, etc - something that's not sitting in front of the tv or talking about work. No matter what it is, it always feels good. Makes me happy just thinking about it - what a great chance to reflect on this. Thanks, Ali. :)

Although we live in the big city, we are lucky enough to live by a trail that runs along a creek surrounded by trees and wildlife. We love to take walks along the trail and point out ducks, caterpillars, and many other natural beauties. It's just fun to get out and get some exercise and talk about whatever. I'm hoping one day soon we can all have bikes to take on the trail!

We love to go on adventures. We love to hike, and explore new areas and spend the night in a tent listening to the sound of nature around us. It brings us together in ways that technology and other things cannot. :-)
