Monday Giveaway : Studio Calico

I was looking back through scrapbooks and photos this past weekend for photos of my husband's stepfather. He passed away tragically and we needed photos at the funeral home. In the midst of this sadness, as I was looking at all these photos I realized I have had a very good life! The photos, the scrapbooks, reminded me I have had a great journey and much to be thankful for. Certainly we need to tell our story.

Right now I am working on a memory book about the women in my family(and some close family friends)who have influenced me throughout life. These are the women who mean the most to me and I have such great memories of each and every one of them. We are all connected in some way and we all have a love and respect for each other. I just felt that we have such fond memories that they needed to be written down for my daughters and hopefully in the future their daughters to read and enjoy. I have a survey for each person to fill out to tell about their likes,dislikes,favorites, and most important, birthdates, place of birth and where they went to school. I know that it's going to take a lot of time and effort to finish this but I really believe that it will be worth it.

My favorite thing: Telling our story!!!! Daily, Hourly, Weekly, Monthly .... just writing down every day what happened.

Even though I stink at journaling I think that recording my families' memories is what makes scrapping important to me. That and it lets my OCD creativity flow!!

What I love about scrapbooking right now is having my 3 year old look at the pages that I created for him and see himself when he was born and what he has done in the past 3 years...so exciting for me to see!

My fav is photography and paper arts! I love all of the travel stuff too! The kit is so great ...I just missed out on getting it. Thanks for all the inspiration. Bevy

WOW over 1500 responses...great to see so many people preserving their memories!! My answer would have been different a couple of years ago.... But now my favorite thing has to be that just 'telling' the story isn't as good as the picture and the story so there isn't that 'you had to be there effect' I want people to see what was going on as well as laugh, cry or remember the story!!! I love telling the stories behind all of the photos, so that my son will know and remember all of the little things about our life right now (he is only 15 months right now) Jess

Right now, 2 years after my daughter's wedding, I'm doing her album, and I'm telling the story. Seems like I'm writing and crying and trying very hard not to get tears on the pictures. I'm glad I waited. I needed time for my thoughts to come together and realize just what WAS important about that day.

My favorite thing is reliving the memories memorialized by the photos and documenting the story. My memory needs a boost now and then, so reviewing pictures and journaling helps me revive it ;)

My favorite thing about memory keeping these days is taking photos of the little things. I haven't been on top of my game getting these things to paper but capturing the photos is such a great pleasure.

the excitment in my boys' voices and the comments that they make when I return home with newly completed pages from a scrapbooking getaway or a crop. They are the reason that I scrapbook for sure!!

Wow, over 2,000 comments now! My favorite part of memory keeping would be the REMEMBERING. By doing it and getting it down then looking back at these books, etc. with my family is the BEST FEELING. I love to see and hear their reactions, stories, etc. Course I love just the act of cutting & gluing and playing with all the STUFF!

My favorite thing is taking pictures. I love looking back at the memories created, whether it great family time or the kids just being silly! They love to see pictures of themselves.
My kids started back to school yesterday and it is AMAZING how fast they grow!

My favorite thing about scrapbooking right now is that I'm working on my wedding pictures and we've just celebrated our first anniversary! My favorite thing at this point is probably blogging. It is a quick and easy way to get the story down, and something I can go back to for journaling prompts if/when I scrapbook the event.

Memory keeping is for me right now and for my family as time goes on. We have so little from my husbands family and mine and most of the photos have no dates or names on them. I want to have my memories right at my fingertips. I have five grandchildren and each has their own "book". I LOVE reading their story to them, through my eyes and I know they do too.
