Hello Baby Edwards...
Our lives are changing in a very big, very wonderful way early next year.
We've known for just about six weeks now and have been doing a ton of celebrating with family (I am just over 12 weeks along).
The idea of a new little person in our lives is sinking in day by day. I am experiencing a crazy mixture of excitement, all-day nausea, grumpiness + mood swings, too-small clothes (which leads to more grumpiness), and that pure amazing this is really happening joy.
I am so hoping that I am coming out of the early pregnancy/first trimester fog (at least I really, really hope so) and am focusing on living fully and in the moment and not taking a minute of this for granted (easier said than done some of these days when all I want to do is sleep all day). As you might imagine I have a big list of things I want to do before this new person joins us and I have been crossing them off the list very slowly one by one.
Simon is pretty darn excited. He came with me to my doctor's appointment yesterday and really liked hearing the heartbeat (even though he was disappointed that he didn't get to see more pictures).
We are all pretty darn excited.
Life is a tremendously amazing thing indeed.

Your news put a lump in my throat. I remember finding out about each of my pregnancies and those are, without question the days that life changed for the better.
The gift of being an "expectant mother" held so much anticipation and joy. I looked most forward to that first night with my new person. After my eldest son was born and I held him in the silent night I knew that my life was changed forever and with each of my four children, I have treasured those memories most. Something about the awesome exhaustion that came with giving birth and the exhiliration of looking into the eyes of the person I had already loved for all those months made that first night with each of those babies a full circle moment for me. It is the one wish I have for every woman I know who gives birth, that those nights stay vivid memories. They were sacred.
Congratulations to your wonderful family.
