Hello Baby Edwards...
Our lives are changing in a very big, very wonderful way early next year.
We've known for just about six weeks now and have been doing a ton of celebrating with family (I am just over 12 weeks along).
The idea of a new little person in our lives is sinking in day by day. I am experiencing a crazy mixture of excitement, all-day nausea, grumpiness + mood swings, too-small clothes (which leads to more grumpiness), and that pure amazing this is really happening joy.
I am so hoping that I am coming out of the early pregnancy/first trimester fog (at least I really, really hope so) and am focusing on living fully and in the moment and not taking a minute of this for granted (easier said than done some of these days when all I want to do is sleep all day). As you might imagine I have a big list of things I want to do before this new person joins us and I have been crossing them off the list very slowly one by one.
Simon is pretty darn excited. He came with me to my doctor's appointment yesterday and really liked hearing the heartbeat (even though he was disappointed that he didn't get to see more pictures).
We are all pretty darn excited.
Life is a tremendously amazing thing indeed.

Here is a tip that helped me with nausea. I used to carry around a small tube or spray of Binaca mouth freshener. It has the teensiest bit of alcohol in it but is considered safe. I used it during both pregnancies and it didn't affect my kids. Whenever I was in a place with a smell that made me nauseated or when I felt a bit sick, I would spray some into my mouth and just hold it in my mouth while focusing on the pepermint taste. It used to help me out quite a bit.

My 5 year old son gained a best friend for life the day his little brother was born a year ago. It has been amazing watching him love and "own" his sibling-no jealousy with this boy! You and your husband are in for more joy than you can imagine, watching the love grow between your kiddos. Enjoy, and I pray God blesses you with a safe pregnancy.

congrats ali! i have a new little one who is 2 months old, after taking a break (my other kids are 7 year-old son and 6 year-old boy/girl twins) -- i am so in love with my baby boy (named henry! :0) ) it is a very different experience having *perspective* -- i am sure you will love every part of the experience. best wishes to you and your family!
