My son was sick at the end of last year and in and out of hospital so we're all really looking forward to having a very low-key and normal family holiday season :-) I'm really looking forward to creating some special holiday crafts with my son to celebrate the season, just like my mum did with me when I was little.

The chance to be with family that I don't always get to see...beautifully decorated homes...and although not the best for the waistline...the wonderful foods & baked goods that only the holidays bring! Mmmm...

My favorite part of the Holidy season is the warm feeling that lighting up the Christmas tree brings to everyone. Getting together with my family and the joy in the kids faces when they open their gifts. This is especially so when we gather at my sister's and grandma arrives with presents for 18 grandchildren and they all end up opening their presents at the same time. We always say we will control it this year, but that never happens and we have the best time with all the craziness of wrapping paper and bows flying in the air..... and kids jumping up and down all at the same time. I wouldn't trade that for anything. Thanks again for your great giveaways.

What is not to love about Christmas? I love the colors, the smells, the lights, the spirit, the happiness...I love how everyone has their own traditions they do every year with their family. Besides the usual decorating the tree, putting up the lights and christmas cards, my daughter and I make homemade ornaments for our friends and family every year. My husband and I bake an old family recipe called Brown Bobbies for his family. His mother used to do this before she passed on and now we carry on this tradition. Oh..light bulb moment.. I need to scrapbook/journal about the brown bobbies. Oh..vintage is the way to go...

This year I'm looking forward to really spending time with family. Hubby was in a bad motorcycle accident in July and it is just going to be a blessing for all of us to be together and of course to craft these moments with the kiddos.

I am looking forward to having a MERRY CHRISTMAS with my family and friends. Last year, my dad passed away on NOvember 25th after 8 weeks in the hospital from complications that occured after surgery (surgeon's error). Seven of those weeks were in ICU. We just went through the motions last year and just tried to help my mother get through it. We are better now, but will never forget what happened to him.
Christmas this year will still be sad, but we are planning on doing things that will make memories to last a lifetime this year. With my brothers and their families, we exchange homemade gifts. This is GREAT!! We have done this for the last 4 years. My gift will be pictures (hopefully scrapbooked) of my mother and dad that I have taken through the years. I am planning on having a cookie day for the grandchildren and their friends, and also planning to make gingerbread houses and decorate them on Thanksgiving afternoon. We always have the traditional Thanksgiving meal at my house, but had to eat at Cracker Barrel last year with my dad in the hospital.
We also have a cookie exchange party for our family and friends.
I am planning to make this Christmas memorable.

I'm looking forward to the snuggling in our jammies, in front of the fire watching Christmas specials. Of course there are the ginger spice lattes, hot chocolate, and tamales to look forward to as well!

My daughter was born two days after Christmas last year, so technically, this will be her first Christmas. I'm not ashamed to admit that Christmas is my favorite holiday, and that I love to go all out with the decorations and the gift giving. This year, I'm so looking forward to decorating a tree just for my daughter, and then placing little goodies beneath it for her to open Christmas morning. Not sure she'll understand what's going on, but I'm very much looking forward to it, nonetheless!

I so LOVE buying presents that I think would be perfect for someone I love.
And the selfish things too....Hot chocolate. Peanut Brittle. Large lacey snowflakes. Cranberries. Crunch crunch of boots in the snow. Sparkling lights everywhere.

Ali your blog is so inspiring!
My favorite part about Christmas is decorating! Pulling out all the decorations and ornaments, and remembering Christmases past.
Happy New Year to you, and especially Happy New Baby Girl! The scrap-o-sphere is anxiously awaiting her birth with you!
