My husband and I have a 13-month old and are expecting our second child in March. I look forward to watching the joy of Christmas through my toddler's eyes this year before we welcome another baby into our family. Last year he was was just an infant so I really want to relish in the spirit this year as he experiences the holidays!

It's been a very difficult year for my immediate family. When I saw the December Daily project - it brought tears to my eyes because it was the answer to getting a head start on thinking about some family activities we could do to reconnect as a family.
I've learned through the difficult times this year, it's about the simple things in life that we now sometimes take for granted in the age of speed and technology. Things like - a smile, laugher, favorite Christmas songs, a family ride to soak in the holiday spirit , baking, picking out and decorating the tree, kindness displayed, etc.). This is part of what I want to rekindle for our family.
I am looking forward to laying the groundwork for rebuilding our family.

I look forward to doing out traditional holiday family things together. It starts right after Thanksgiving when we put up our tree and doesn't end until after school vacation. I especially love when we take out our decorations and I see some I have saved from my childhood and know that some day my children will be sharing some of our decorations with their family.

Last year my son was born 12 week premature and we spent our first Christmas with him in the NICU. What I am most looking forward to this year is to have him home and spending our "first" Christmas together in our pajamas watching our one year old crumple and eat paper and get into trouble with the Christmas tree.

I think this year I am most looking forward to trying to celebrate more simply. To keep the real meaning in the front of all of our activities, our gifts, etc. I am attempting to have a homemade christmas this year (including all the gifts) too.

Baking! Every year I make cookies, candies, and other yummy treats that I only make during the holidays. My kids really look forward to that.

I love decorating! I also have a tree that decorate with pictures and memories from throughout the year. I got the idea from Emily Falconbridge when she journaled/scrapbooked once a week using a playing card. I scrapbook a deck of cards with pictures from the previous year and hang them on the tree.

Great question! The responses have been fun to read. :)
I am so excited about this Christmas because it will be our first one as a family of five. Our daughters (ages 7 & 4) joined our family last March. Ever since then, we've been looking forward to Christmas. We can't wait to begin making holiday memories for them to hold on to and remember for the rest of their lives.

Holiday season for me is a lot of decorating, cooking, wraping and planning.... and then, on Xmas day, I'm often sad that everything is over!!!!
It's my favourite season :-)
