One Little Word 2009 & Giveaways
Tags:I am so excited to embark on a new word for 2009.
My word is nurture.
For me, especially with a new baby on the way within the next month or so, I have been thinking a lot about nurturing. It's such a soft, slow, gentle word.
There are many things in my life I would like to focus on nurturing this coming year. Our new baby girl. Simon and the transition to big brotherhood. My relationship with Chris. Photography. Patience. My business & this blog.
I am also going to be conscious of nurturing myself during this time of major transition in our lives.
There is something very special about this word for me. It represents slowing down, simplifying, and pinpointing what is really important to me in my life (not just the next 365 days). I am nervous and excited and so looking forward to what is to come.
The idea behind the one little word concept is to give yourself something to focus on throughout the year. As I stated in my newsletter back in January 2007, "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."
Also from that same newsletter:
I can't wait to see all the words for 2009.
To celebrate the new year I have three very special giveaways - all directly related to this project. Two beautiful pieces of jewelry and one piece of art to celebrate your word.

Well Ali, your word is perfect for you! I have been reading quite a few of the comments here, trying to find a word that speaks to me this year. I am still pondering, there are just so many good powerful strong words.
Thank you for encouraging us all to think about this!

Aww, great word Ali!! :) :)
I have been thinking about your one word concept for the past couple of weeks, and mine is restore. :)
I have had lots of areas in 08 that have prompted me to think that I need to have them restored...health being the main one.
So here's to a healthy happy 2009, with our beautiful new babies! :) (My 2nd is due in early March)

This is the year. The year to create goals and actually make progress towards them. To actually force myself to take time to put myself in that goal list. I am great at making sure my kids get good exercise, food, care, etc., but am horrible at doing it for myself. It is so important, and I am really feeling that inside and out. From taking care of myself to working on issues like reducing my debt, nurturing family and relationships, I really need to have a few words for this upcoming year. I need to think a bit more on what one of those words is best fitting, for now, my word will be change. (o:

The first one that came to mind is: Expand.
Expand my horizons. Expand the possibilities. I want to get rid of some of the limits I put on myself.
I am also trying to get pregnant! Expand my belly! Expand life and my ability to love.
Thank you.

I am trying to decide between two words..PEACE or BE.
I have a son in the USAF and peace was always on my mind in so many different ways in 2008. And I think it will continue to be in 2009. But Be is one I am also thinking about also… I want to give myself permission to BE so much to so many in 2009. Thank you for all of your inspiration. Happy 2009! Kathy

I was going to say "courage", but I have tried that word and it seems too big of a concept. So I decided on "try". Try new things, try to be kinder, try to take better care of myself, and the list goes on. Thank you for making me think of this as 2008 finally comes to an end. Wishing you a joyous new year. Cheers.
