One Little Word 2009 & Giveaways
Tags:I am so excited to embark on a new word for 2009.
My word is nurture.
For me, especially with a new baby on the way within the next month or so, I have been thinking a lot about nurturing. It's such a soft, slow, gentle word.
There are many things in my life I would like to focus on nurturing this coming year. Our new baby girl. Simon and the transition to big brotherhood. My relationship with Chris. Photography. Patience. My business & this blog.
I am also going to be conscious of nurturing myself during this time of major transition in our lives.
There is something very special about this word for me. It represents slowing down, simplifying, and pinpointing what is really important to me in my life (not just the next 365 days). I am nervous and excited and so looking forward to what is to come.
The idea behind the one little word concept is to give yourself something to focus on throughout the year. As I stated in my newsletter back in January 2007, "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."
Also from that same newsletter:
I can't wait to see all the words for 2009.
To celebrate the new year I have three very special giveaways - all directly related to this project. Two beautiful pieces of jewelry and one piece of art to celebrate your word.

just popping in to say happy new year! One more FOCUS girl in the house! (the word has been in my mind for a month - had no idea it would be so popular) thanks for sharing so much insight and creativity with all of us the past year. I really think that my word for last year (FIRE) made a difference! Best wishes for all happiness and peace this year.

I've been thinking about this word since I took the bible study 'Believing God' by Beth Moore. It is simply the word 'believe'. I know if I started REALLY believing deep down in my soul that I am who God says I am and God is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do, etc. my whole life would be different. I am choosing to believe in 2009, I'm even getting a tattoo of it on my wrist to remind me everyday to choose belief!!

Hi Ali, my word for 2009 is patience, with everything - my kids, my hubby and my weight loss goals, even my scrapping. Good luck for 2009 with your precious new bundle and the rest of your family. God Bless. xoxo

I'm leaning toward Focus. I think with the new year, the shift in economy and the shift in my family dynamic it's time for me to focus on the important and truly special things in life.

My word for 2009 is faith. There are several things in my life right now that I'm dealing with, and I'm trying to keep my faith strong and know that things will turn out well. I'm also going to work on my 2008 word again, which was simplify. Happy New Year and good wishes for you and your family, including that little girl who is waiting to arrive in 2009!

My word for 2009 is serenity. I tend to worry and stress a LOT. I hope this year that I can find serenity through things such as through consistent prayer, yoga, keeping it simple, and/or taking it one moment at a time. Through everything, I hope that I can learn to let go and to trust God.

I haven't yet thought about what my word will be but I have given some thought to what I would like for 2009; The most important thing for me this year is to have baby #2 that will be what I strive for first of all; then if time permits, I WILL master this darn Photoshop Elements 6 software that I've had since May! :P That's the plan thus far, thanks for asking & for sharing!

Happy New Year's Eve!
My word is Gratitude. My life is so full, not perfect, not without trials, but so full of love and joy (last year's word) that I am forever thankful and more then grateful.

When I read your previous post about choosing a word for 2009 the first word that came into my mind was HONESTY. The word hasn't left my thoughts so I feel that the Lord is pushing me towards this word.
I looked up the meaning and honesty is not just being truthful with others but truthful with yourself as well.
This past year has not been a very honest year for me. My husband and I are now full time caregivers for his mom. I haven't been honest with others in regards to our needs during this transition, I haven't been honest with my DH as far as our financial situation is concerened and I haven't been honest with myself. It all came to a head and now in 2009 every day will be an HONESTY day.

Ali! Loving you new word. I think it will serve you well this coming year! Little girls are so fun!
My word may possibly be "hope". We are having a tough time with the economy and where we work, so "hope" is something we need for our family right now.

I am still trying to decide what word would work best...I will be sending my firstborn to college right around the same time my husband leaves for a year in Iraq...it is going to be one of the hardest times in my life but I have to be strong. I have four other children who need their mom to be there for them.
