Three Things + 1 : Lots of Love (and giveaways)

MY mother has always taken the time to get Valentine's post marked from Valentine, Co. I've always made a special valentine cookie sandwich, which has become a tradition, one year I could not find the receipe and had to try to duplicate it, wasn't quite the same.

i'm a teacher and our february break usually hits during the week of valentine's day so i'm usually off somewhere with friends doing something. this year i'll be in a curling bonspiel!

We don't really go out to celebrate but we do make sure to get each other a little gift!

My kids are 7 & 11 and my husband I usually treat them to a special breakfast with a little treat bag of Valentine Goodies!!! We like to have a simple dinner at home by candlelight.

Instead of exchanging gifts, we write each other a nice letter. I love doing this because it's nice to focus on each other. And for our kids we get a small box of chocolates & a short note saying we love them.

I take my kids out for a special dinner. We don't eat out often so this is a really big deal to them.

Valentine's Day is quiet for us. I get my two sons and my husband boxes of chocolate candy. My husband sends me roses at school--in the past one for every year of marriage. We usually have a quiet supper with the children at home. However, as the boys get older--one in college, one a sophomore in high school--we are in transition. It is a new adventure.

i love making things for people so of course i celebrate valentine's day by being crafty and giving little gifts to the people i love!

It's become tradition to make heart shaped waffles on the day. We usually also dress up on fun Valentine's day hats, pajamas, etc. And no going out date. Just a date at the house with homemade cooked chow!

I love our tradition, as simple as it may be!
My husband and I come home from work and make a spagetti dinner together and make then a cake. That's it, plain and simple. This will be our 3rd year. Simple...no long wait or expensive dinners! I love my husband so much!

My husband proposed on Valentine's Day, our son was born on Valentine's Day 5 years later, and my birthday is the 15th, so we go all out. Heart shaped pancakes for breakfast, and after school we pick up our son and go to a hotel. That night we have a "carpet picnic" watch movies, sit in the hot tub, and eat a big dessert! My husband and I each write a little letter to our son that day and tuck it in his scrapbook.

Because my husband's birthday is in January and we usually still feel like Christmas just ended, we try not to trade gifts for valentine's day. We agreed to just do something nice together, whether it be dinner, massages or spending the day together. The thing I love about this, is we talk about what we want to do and we don't have to get stressed about coming up with a surprises. It takes a lot of pressure off, and lets us focus on one another.

On Valentine day dinner we have meal from heart shaped bowls and plates and drink from heart shapped mugs. We write love note/cards to each member of the family.

I don't do anything special anymore, but when I was in college, my girlfriends and I would get together (we were all very SINGLE at the time), each buy a pound of Sees chocolate, get a good chick flick and hang out. We each finished our pound of chocolate by the end of the night. Man, I really miss those days.

I work with a lot of nurses who are single. they werent too thrilled when I decorated the clinic for Valentines day, they said its because they never get anything. At other holidays family and friends give them stuff but not Valentines. So I have already started making them little note pads with matching pens and I plan to put candy bags together so that they will have good Valentines memories

Sharing something my dad still does for me...well into my 30s...I still get a box of chocolates and a Valentine from him. He has told me that no matter what he'll always be my Valentine. I hope to share special things with my little ones well into their adulthood, too!!

I give little valentines to my two boys and my husband. Making valentines for school is always a highlight, but my oldest son is always more interested in his birthday -- 4 days later!

I like to make a special dinner for my family. Every year I try to make a different type of heart shaped dessert and also give my kids little gifts

My DH and I join 3 other couples for a Couples' Soiree. One couple hosts at their home. We have dinner and dessert along with a fun game. My favorite is the "how well do you remember your history" questionnaire. Each member of a couple separately answers questions about their relationship and compare answers. It's hilarious how much the wives remember (You wore a red sweater on our 1 year anniversary date) and the husbands have totally forgotten (There was music playing at that restaurant?)!

My daughters and I shave crayons on wax paper and make "stained glass" hearts that we hang from the dining room light fixture. We (my husband and I) do gifties for our kids - but not for one another because our wedding anniversary is just two weeks later. Long ago my husband told me, "I don't need a made-up holiday to tell you I love you." So, I learned to live with that - however, he does our anniversary in a big way so I can get over not doing V-Day. :)
