Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

I'd have to say that my superpower is determination. I am determined this year to help save money for our family this year. After hours of research and practice this year I made my own cloth diapers and will even start selling them in effort to bring extra funds and the funny thing is I've never used a sewing machine before and didn't even know how to thread my machine when I started. But I believe when you are determined you find a way!

my super power would have to be my strength. Yes, that's it. I'm a strong woman. Just yesterday my husband and I spoke about our current battle we are fighting. He reminded me that it's not how you fall, it's how you get up. Considering every thing we have endured we get up pretty damn well, and that takes a tremendous amount of strength.

I tell my kids that I have super powers, I know when they are up to something without even being in the room! :) My other super power is to make friends wherever I go!

Wow- love those colors!
My superhero power? Looking on the bright side. My mom once said that I am so optomistic, I think that I can nurse a dead plant back to life. Gives me and others hope, and that is very powerful.

OOh, I love the necklace!! My superpower is an almost encyclopedic recall for books. My friends call me the book lady and my license plate indicates my love for books.
I used to manage a bookstore, and my favorite recall story was a customer wanting a book "published in the last few decades, about a man and a woman, and it has a red cover" :) [took me just one follow-up question to figure out it was 'Disclosure' by Crichton']

Awesome subject. Umm...I would say that today my superpower is my never ending enthusiasm for reading. My house is filled with books and so far my children also love to read (or be read to).

Well, my superpower used to be making milk when I breastfed my two kids. :-) But since they're older... and I'm not having anymore babies, that superpower has shifted into the background.
But my other superpower, is that I'm quite skilled in my line of work - organizational change management. And the added bonus is that I really enjoy it too.

My own superpower. The gift of gab. The gift of fun. The gift of the ability to make people laugh. These make me sore up in the skies with superman himself.

Ooh, love the necklaces. My superpower would be the gift of forgiveness. When I was younger I really thought it was a flaw but now I'm thankful I can forgive easily.

All of my family & friends know that I am the QUEEN of DETAILS.... I pay the bills, I remember birthdays, I organize vacations and make the reservations, I keep track of 1001 things at work, make sure that all the animals are fed, and multi-task at home with laundry, dishes, housework, and sending care packages to our sons serving overseas in Spain & Iraq. My husband sometimes jokes that he could do all of those things if he put him mind to it... I just laugh. hahahahaha

face contortion.
if you put a camera in front of me, and want to take a picture, and if I'm feeling the power take over, you won't get a smile out of me.
instead you'll get what's called "the jamie face"...and that can vary each and every time.
