Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

I am totally aware of my superpower as it has taken me along many different highways, but always the reason that I needed to be in the right place at the right time to help someone else. My super power is that I am a CATALYST in other peoples lives. This is my purpose on this earth, and I have learnt to accept it finally, and feel blessed.

i'm a superhero read-to-kid-er. i love reading books to my kids, and they've developed their own love of books. at 4 and 2 years old, one of my greatest delights is to find them nested in a pile of books quietly enjoying stories together!

I guess I'm somewhat of a Superhero at my son's school. He goes to a charter school which relies heavily on volunteers and I donate a lot of my time to help in the classroom and on the playground. There are a lot of Superheroes there.

My superpower is compassion and empathy. Once people get to know me, even a little, they start to open up and pour everything out. I'm a great listener.

Hi Ali! This one is hard because I don't think we think of our gifts, talents, abilities as superpowers... it's just what we do! My superpower is recognizing pain in other's lives and being able to connect. After my husband had a stroke (at age 34) 2 1/2 years ago and losing my mom suddenly 4 months later I can spot pain a million miles away. I'm not just surviving, but thriving, and I want to encourage other women that we're stronger than we think and with God all things are possible. Thanks for allowing me to share. Have a super day! Karen

Well, my SUPER POWER has got to be my smile and contagious laughter!!! I've been told many times that I have a beautiful smile that makes my eyes sparkle. Plus, when I get to laughing, people tell me that they can't help but laugh too!! What a SUPER POWER!!! To make people feel better deep inside to their soul!!!

How exciting - what a great giveaway!
I think my superpower would have to be my ability to focus on what would be most important in any situation and let go of the extraneous information. This has helped me immeasurably as a single mom and has helped me to develop wonderful relationships with my two adult children.

I love to cook and I share this with my family everyday. I'm proud that I can make good, nutritious meals to help keep them healthy and happy. We enjoy sitting as a family at diner to catch up with our day - actually, this has been a New Year's commitment too. Candles and instrumental music give us time to relax and enjoy each other. Yep, every dinner time!

Hey Ali... I pondered on this during my workout today... Mine would have to be determination. When things knock me down (and they seem to have done a lot lately) I get right back up and keep moving forward. I'm a fighter. That is my superpower. Ironically, I cam across this today. Super-inspiring: http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2009/01/12/nick-vijicic-get-back-up/

That's a beautiful, colorful necklace!
My superpower, hmmmmm..... I say being a Mommy. I have one son who is gifted, and another who is 5 and can't say his "r"s or "s"s. Last year I realized that he would not be ready for kindergarten, and after talking with his day care, I quit my job so I could teach him writing, letters, counting, etc. AND I now have him in speech therapy. I am SO GLAD that I noticed this, and that I was willing to quit my job for him- because my boys are the most important thing to me.
