Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

I love that necklace. Thanks Ali for an awesome necklace. That necklace would make me feel like a superhero because lately I have not had my usual superpowers. I've been in a slump. But I would say one of my powers is the ability to not stress. It takes a lot to get me stressed and I have a pretty stressful job.

I think my super power is to go with the flow......
I have 3 kids under the age of 5, my husband is a full time pastor and is getting his master's degree. Our family gets pulled in tons of directions, and often we are asked to change plans , solve a problem, or intervene in a crisis at the last second. Often my hubby will call me and tell me about a change in plans, and I go with it. Somehow I also am able to keep things stable for our kids. We make it work, and somehow I keep my blood pressure down.
PICK ME! PICK ME! PICK ME! THAT JEWELRY IS BEEEE-YOU-TI-FUL!

What a beautiful thought...me a superhero. I guess my superpower would have to be family photography. More often than not people in my family forget their cameras at important family events, and since mine is attached to my hip, they rely on me for photos of the day.
I've set up a website to make the sharing of the photos more simple.
Maybe I need a cape?!

My Superhero power... well, I guess that would be that I'm able to talk to teenagers and young adults about seeing their own potential... exploring their gifts and talents and to see that they have much to share with others. There is no such thing as an average person... and too often, teenagers/young adults think they are just average.

I love her jewelry!
I also asked my two sons what they thought I was good at because I wanted to see if they said the same things I thought. My oldest said, "yoga, crafts, oh and sleeping in late". Ha! My youngest said, "helping". That was what I was thinking: My superpower is being a laid-back mom who can whip up crafts while doing a tree pose. All while still in bed. (Just kidding on that last part. Sort of).

I know I am a superhero for my madison who many times needs my special powers and skills. I am her biggest advocate!! and sometimes I wish I really could "zap" a few people on her behalf.

I don't know that it's a superpower, but I'm a good listener, and my friends and family know if they need a sounding board or a shoulder I'm always here. It's a little thing, but it's something I'm proud of.

I guess if I have a superpower, it would be that I can write well...one of these days, I hope to turn that talent into a novel.

My Superpower is (overcoming). I use to sit and wonder why my youth was different from my friends but when I got pregnant with my twins at 22 I decided that although my youth was not ideal I was in full control of my adulthood.I could accept that my parents controlled my childhood but I could seize my adulthood. I DECIDED TOO. For the sake of me and my kiddos. Deciding to take responsibility and GUIDE MYSELF in the direction I desired opened the doors to happiness and purpose widely!

This is not about me, but my cousin who has many superpowers, and I want to recognize her.
The belief that everyone is doing the best that they can is her most awesome superpower. Believing that, while dealing with everything life throws her way, gives her the ability live life positively. Positive living - a superpower we could all do with more.
Maria, "Thank you."

My superpower is relating to kids a lot of other people don't seem to be able to relate to (I work with special needs children).
It's a natural talent that has somehow always allowed me to understand the way they're thinking even when it's totally different to the way I think and come up with ways to help them make the world work for them. And it's a talent I'm very grateful (and lucky) to have :-)

My super power is problem solving. I am quick on my feet and can come up with some creative ways to solve problems.
I think every mom would benefit from having a BEWITCHED nose:)
I love the necklaces, they are beautiful.
Have a great day. Jess

These necklaces are so pretty!
My superpower is being a super thrifty shopper. I love using coupons and finding great deals. I'm always coming home and making my husband play the "guess how much I paid for this?" game.
