Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My superpower is keeping 3 teenagers (13, 16, 18) pointed in the right direction when I am a single mom during the week (my hubby travels every week, Monday thru Friday). AND they all talk to me. That is super. Oh, and not eating all the Girl Scout cookies in one sitting.

What a beautiful necklace! My superpower is what I'm sure every mom has, that special inborn "mom" power to get everything done, get the kids to school, work all day and take care of my boys when I get home, help with homework, cook dinner, etc, etc. We're all superheros :)

What a great idea for a giveaway!
I would have to say my superpower is the amazing ability to stay calm in most situations. I have been with my friends during accidents, hospital visit, etc.....and I am able to help them get thru. I think that can be helpful sometimes.
TFS!

If you had asked me a few days ago what my superhero power was I think I would have said being a good mom, but after talking with my students at school and reading their comments to me as their teacher I realize my superhero power is teaching those that the world has deemed different or unworthy. I had asked my 5th graders to reflect on our journey as readers and writers and then to leave me any comments, one child wrote "Thank you for not giving up on me. When I switch classes to your room...I get goose bumps knowing you believe in me" I believe this is my calling to help all children regardless of ability to achieve greatness and to see themselves in a positive light.

My superpower...I always am able to find the positive in something. If I am down or something is bringing me down at work, I find the positive in what is happening and help it to make me a better person. It also helps me feel more healthy!

Superpower...I drink my 8 glasses of water! Not life changing, but it was my resolution a few years back. I have continued, and am proud of that small accomplishment. You have to start somewhere. Right?

my superpower is more of a party trick, I can write with both hands at once, regular with my right and upside down and backwards with my left - I have never met another person who could do it, but I did see someone on TV which was the reason I tried it out.

I have a 2 year old, a 1 year old, I'm pregnant and I haven't lost my mind. I'm pretty sure that's a God thing and not a superpower, but I guess having such an awesome God gives me superpowers.

my superhero power? Knowing little known facts to delight and cause wonder in children and adults.
I seem to have a mind for facts, but I also can't seem to remember what I had for breakfast YESTERDAY, so go figure... thanks for helping me identify some of my inner superhero :)

I can see both sides of a situation. It makes it hard to make decisions. But I am empathetic towards my friends. Kim R.

Okay, so I this uncanny ability to find any sore spot my husband has. Jammed his finger? That will be the hand I give a loving squeeze to. Bruise on his shoulder? That will be the exact place I start to massage. Bumped his knee? You got it, that'll be the one I give a hearty pat to when he tells a good joke.
Uncanny!
The jewelry is beautiful!

Love this jewelry~
My superpower, other than being a great "driver" for my kids (LOL) is I think I'm a pretty awesome manager for my son's varsity hockey team. More work than anybody could imagine but I think I've done a pretty darn good job at it.

Wow...it is hard to talk about myself!
I think my superhero power is my ability to show women how beautiful they are with the pictures I take. It is an amazing feeling to hand over pictures to someone and watch their face light up and hear them say "wow, I look pretty!" and to watch them carry themselves differently.
Thanks for the question Ali...

I've been stalking her jewelry for a while now. I think perhaps I'm a superhero at juggling. Right now I'm juggling four kids and PhD coursework. One semester left to go and everyone still has clean underwear!!

Superpower? That's a hard one. Perhaps hosting 30+ people (including 15+ kids!) at our house for our church group on a regular basis without losing my mind? Yes, that's it. Let that necklace be my new cape!
