Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My super power is that I can make and take meals to families in need and still get a homecooked meal on the table all the while juggling a feisty 4 year-old and a nursing baby!

I am of course a super mom. Right now I am surviving my 11 year old son's pre teen attitude. With the smart mouth and know it all attitude. Then he turns it around and can be a sweet boy. I never know from one day to the next which child I am getting.

my personal superpower? I am an amazingly patient person. I wasn't always, but with kids there are no do-overs - so I've learned to take a breath (or hold my breath) and love them rather than yell.

My superhero power is teaching my children with confidence. I’m a homeschooling mama and a lot of people doubt what I’m doing, but what better teacher could they have than the mama that loves them the most.

Wow! I couldn't even read through all the comments, there are so many! My superpower is the uncanny ability to annoy my teenage daughters to no end. While many wouldn't consider that a superpower, I know that when my daughters are truly annoyed with me, it means I have set appropriate boundaries and pushed them to achieve their best. And in another twenty years or so, they might just thank me.

I haven't really thought of it as a superpower, but today, while having a bunch of bed-sheets to fix, and a couple of zippers to change, for my MIL, I was thinking that, "Hey, I am good at this". I am good at sewing and being able to repair and fix things instead of just throwing away suff that could be perfectly fine again after just a round in the sewing machine. And, I know it is - unfortunately - a knowlegde less and less people today possess, so I think, that, maybe it is some kind of a superpower in a way :o)
Love that necklace, it is gorgeous!!!
And such a generous giveaway.

My superhero power is listening and talking to others. I have been told I am easy to talk to. I love hearing everyones life story and finding ways I can relate to them.

My favorite moment was when my three year old who loves Spiderman, Batman, Ironman, Superman, etc., told me that I was his superhero. I almost cried, he is such a sweet boy and I realized how special I was in his eyes that I could be his Superhero.

I am a superhuman driver in snow!! Here in Upstate NY we are getting hit with a lot of snow. Most people aren't confident drivers but I totally rock driving in the snow! I know my limits, I don't drive too fast, and I am prepared. I have AWD and snowtires and an emergency pack in my car in case I get stranded!

My superhero power is definitely my ability to roll with the punches. There are too many to list but suffice it to say that I have rolled with cancer (3 times), adoption, moving across the country, financial issues stemming from previous mentioned cancer. I am proud that my marriage has endured all of this and is stronger than ever. I'm proud that I carried myself with dignity and grace through all of it.

Funny. I just added one of these to my birthday wishlist(in a week an a half)...and I also was just asked for something here at work that I am not sure if I can do it, but I said, "We'll give it a try!" And then followed up with "I make magic. That should be in my job description. I make magic."
I think one of my superpowers would be just being able to juggle all we have to juggle without losing my mind. Hubby said my compassion.

I love this jewelry! I never really stopped to think about having a superpower but if I had to pick one for myself I think it would be just being a mom and managing to have a close relationship with my kids which include two teenage girls (which is a difficult task in itself) and my two boys who are 20 and 23.

I am a superhero. I couldn't juggle all aspects of my life if I wasn't a superhero! To my son, I am super mom. To my husband, I am Super woman. I am not afraid to admit it.
