Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

Hmmmm....my superpower would have to be nurturing my children. No matter what mistakes I make, I care for them each day and love them with all my heart!

I would have never thought that making people feel valued and appreciated would be my superpower without it being pointed out to me by someone else. I am a full time teacher and have a part time job working with other teachers and part of what I do is to make sure they are connected to and contribute to a network. In order to do that I have to build their confidence in their craft to the point they are willing to share. This takes a lot of support and validating their ability.

My superhero power is that I teach middle school...most people think I am crazy, and today I agree, however, most days I actually enjoy these hormonal, crazy people.

Wow, what gorgeous jewelry!
I've been told I'm a super mom to my two boys (and baby in my belly!) and although I sometime have my doubts and "mommy guilt", I believe I'm a good mom, too. It's my most important and rewarding job and the proof is seeing how wonderful my boys are. They're very polite, sweet, and well-liked. They make me proud!

I am a super multi-tasker! As a wife, mother, homeschooling mommy to three boys, techy person for our homeschooling co-op, and MORE ... I seem to do very well switching hats (or wearing many at once!) many times throughout each day.

I'm a superhero because I've raised two beautiful girls to the ages of 16 and 18 and they are wonderful young women. I'm very proud of them and the job I've done so far!

I love older people. I work with them five days of week. They are an inspiration to me. They attend the Adult Day Center to receive socialization, planned activiities, meals, supervision, fun, routines, exercise and to fulfill me!!! I amazed everyday by them. They are my passion; my ministry!!! They keep me balanced and respectful!!! When I am not working; I am a superhero at home to my husband, my sweet boys, my family and friends!!!

I'm not very good at complimenting myself but I would say mine would be being a mom. I've sometimes amazed myself at what I can do for my kids. They definitely make me feel like I have superpowers!!

Lovely necklaces! Superpower? I guess it would be being a work at home mom. I have to juggle the house chores, family business and run after my ever energetic 2 year old everyday. It's exhausting but I survive each day. :)

I'm super at nothing - but my superpower is being ok at just about everything. Meaning I like to try new things and I can figure out how to do difficult things...I'm a survivor.

Superpower: It is in my ability to listen. I try really hard to give
others the space to speak and be heard. I truly connect when
I do this.

My superhero power is raising my son with Down Syndrome - and loving it!. I take him to countless doctors and therapists appointments, all the while my friends complain about taking their kids to pediatrician appointments a few times a year.
Dealing with the insurance too in relation to all this is another superhuman power in and of itself!
